I have finally found time and energy to update you ladies on everything.
Last Thursday, I had my weekly OB appointment (3 in the afternoon). I was looking forward to it since I was going to be seeing a different OB in the practice since mine was on vacation (hoping to get answers about all the swelling etc). Well, I got answers all right....My blood pressure had spiked and everything they asked me to do (lay on side etc) did not lower it. Plus, I had extreme levels of protein in my urine sample. I had also developed numbness in the right side of my face which caused me to see stars (only on that side). I had developed a case of Preeclampsia. Needless to say, the OB said do not pass go and head right to L&D. He said that with having the numbness and starring effect in the vision that waiting even another week to monitor it could cause me to have more problems than I already had.
Side note, apparently my regular OB had made mention in her notes that I had some protien in the urine from the last visit. She said nothing to Dennis and I. Just that the protien level was completely fine, blood pressure was fine, and that the swelling was going to get worse before it got better...(yeah...my blood sure spiked when I found out that she had noted different things than what she told us).
Anyways, I got to L&D around 5:30 and was monitored until 7pm with my blood pressure going all over the board. It was right after 7 that they decided that we were going to have the c-section that night. I survived having them stick me in my back. At 8:39pm Russell was born (6 pounds 7 ounces and 19.75 inches long). We both came home on Sunday and are adjusting nicely (don't know about the dogs yet). I am still sore/stiff from the c-section (some movements cause more pain than others). Nursing is going ok. He has some feedings were he doesn't want to latch right. I do get up twice a night with him to feed. Besides crying when he is hungry or having his diaper changed, he is a very calm and alert baby.
Thanks ladies for all the congrats and well wishes! It really lifted the spirits when I read the post Friday afternoon.
Friend me on facebook to see more pictures of baby Russell. I have attached a link so you can see the professional hospital pictures. http://www.our365.com/NewbornPortraits/BabyDetail.aspx?birthid=14a2532a-693c-4e4d-bb21-c24d3aae226c

What a whirlwind!!! I know it's not what you planned, but what counts is that you and Russell are both healthy, for that I am glad. He's such a cutie pie, too!
And your doctor? Yeah, I have no words...,
April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
What a crazy story (Paula are you reading this!?!?) Glad to hear that the other OB doctor treated you with more priority and caution than the other doctor (who should be shot). Baby Russell is so adorable! Hopefully he continues to be a "good" baby!
Take care and come back with more pics soon!

Glad to hear everyone is home and doing well. Russell is so adorable!
I have to say I've very happy that your normal OB was on vacation and this doctor was much more open with you and what needed to be done. It sounds like things were quick and relatively easy. I can't wait to see more pics!
He is just perfection! I am glad everything ended up okay and worked out as smoothly as it could. I could understand your doc not telling you about the problems for fear of stressing you out, but she should have told your husband and let him decide whether or not to tell you. I have heard of them doing that many times, but rarely not telling anyone. I am glad you saw someone else during your next visit so that little Russell could get here safe and sound!!!
Congrats!!!! I'm glad baby Russell is here safe and sound!
Can someone suggest us as friends on fb?
