Calgary and Banff in October

Hi ladies, DH and I will be in Calgary and Banff in the middle of October. How bad can we expect the weather to be? Do you think (snow wise) we will even be able to drive to Banff?

TIA!

Re: Calgary and Banff in October

  • I think mid-October you should be fine for driving out to Banff.  We don't usually get snow that stays on the ground, in the city anyway, until around Halloween.  October can be quite nice or kind of crappy, so be prepared for both.  Make sure you bring a warm jacket.
  • Thanks so much for the reply! I am mostly nervous about driving in the snow, we don't see that veryoften in south Texas ;) Crossing fingers for no major snow!
  • I don't recall any major snows in October except for on Halloween.  Rain would be more likely.
  • I think you'll be safe in October. You may get some flurries but major snow is unlikely until Halloween. Banff is pretty much a walking town anyways in that you find a place to park and then walk around the main streets.
