Thanks for thinking about us.  Okay, so we decided to put it off.  My husband has had negative experiences with Mary Freebed with work so he wanted to wait until Ian gets six months.  He was afraid if we showed up that he would be placed in a helmet.  He's looking better but I'm still thinking we will need to go that route.  We meet back with our PCP in 3 weeks so I'm curious to see if she feels he still needs it. It's a hard decision isn't it?

  • Sorry to hear that your husband had a negative experience with them. Sad  It is totally a hard decision, and a VERY emmotional one for me.  But I will say, I am SOOO glad that we went through with it.  I kept thinking that it was "not THAT bad" and while at the first appointment kept saying in my head "please let them say he doesn't need one....PLEASE" over and over.  Well, lo and behold, they recommended one.  But know that it is a recommendation...and the decision is ultimately yours.  We asked about a thousand questions and took a week to decide.  But, like I said, I am so glad we did.  I did not realize how bad it was until it started to get corrected and WOW, what a drastic improvement.  Just some info if you decide to get him evaluated.  He will meet with a Certified Orthopedist and get his head measured and scanned.  After the scan is complete they put the info into a computer and give you data on how his head rates.  Based on five main measurements they give a rating number to each measurement.  Those ratings will tell you if a helmet is not recommended, recommended or strongly recommended.  It made me feel better that it was not just the Orthopedist's opinion, but rather, scientific data.  Good luck!  I can relate to the feeling of indecision that you are going through!  It is your baby, and you just want the best!  Keep me posted, (if you don't mind).  And again, ask any questions you want!
