Re: TGIF Randoms
I find the calendar of wins to be the most useful feature.
It looks like most of the wins are not close to Wrigley if that's what you're trying for. Most are Millennium Park area. Someone got the Hyatt Regency for $63 on Friday night!
We plan on staying downtown and redlining it to the game. I will check out the calendar of wins.
Ditto this. I find the site very useful. I also like that you can look up the Priceline hotel list so you get an idea on what you're bidding on.
Good luck, Molly!
AW:
We have a blood drive at work today. I don't give blood because I'm a scaredy-cat. But instead, I bring baked goods for those who do.
I've been busy and tired this week and haven't really felt like baking. But last night I threw together some desert bars in literally 10 minutes (plus baking time). As I was cutting them this morning, I was kind of kicking myself because I thought they looked sloppy (like I had just thrown them together in 10 minutes), although they tasted okay. Then when I was getting them out of my car, I knocked the container over, thus damaging them even further.
But one of our senior partners just stopped by my office to compliment me on them, and raved about how excellent they are. Totally made my day.
ETA: I suppose it would be better if he complimented me on my actual work, but I'll take it nonetheless.
S/O engagements, one of Nick's best friends is getting engaged soon, and is using my idea. I can't wait to hear how it turned out.
What is your idea?
Awesome!
And you just reminded me that I need to make cupcakes for this weekend's church festival...hmmm....
Pick it up from the library this weekend. Kiss any other plans you had for the weekend goodbye. Join us on Monday.
You really don't want to go in there--there is at least one pretty major spoiler about the ending.
Great job on the baking, Kasa! That is very cool.
I also don't give blood because I'm a scaredy cat. In fact, I'm about five years overdue on a tetanus shot for just this reason!
S/o engagements, my brother got engaged to his baby mama. I really want to be happy for them, but I just don't see how this is going to work out well.
First of all, I think they were broken up less than a month before they got engaged. Secondly, they live in my parents' house.
The good thing is that they aren't planning to get married until next fall, which gives them some time to think things through. I'd love for them to get married and be happy, but it's the "being happy" part I'm worried about.
From personal experience, I know getting married doesn't solve any relationship problems and often makes them worse. You have to be a grown up, learn to communicate and deal with situations that you don't always love. You have to be fiercely committed to making the marriage work and I just don't think either of them is ready/knows how to do that yet.
He just bought a house for them. They both know they want to get married, it's just a matter of him actually proposing now (he's had the ring for a few months now). I suggested that once he gets the keys to the house even before they start moving in, he takes her there with flowers and champagne set up. Once he opens the door he says something along the lines of "I want to make the first moments in our new house extra special" and proposes at the new house. I suggested this when I knew their offer got accepted, and he loved it. He told Nick on Wednesday that he plans on using that idea.
Holy crap ladies....after a quiet week you sure have been busy this morning!!
Wop...so excited for you! Sounds like you have had a good pregnancy. I cannot complain about mine either. But I do not miss the hip pain and going to the bathroom every 5 seconds to get a 1/2 teaspoon to come out. I would be like "seriously, is that ALL?!" after feeling like I was going to pee my pants! I was grateful when Noah came at 38 weeks! Love the names. One of my good friends is a Colette.
All this talk about food is making me hungry to go eat at a nice restaurant. Now if we can just find the money tree to pick the dough off from so we can go.....anyone got one?
Went to the zoo yesterday with Noah and the hubs. We have fun despite my shoelace being half eating by a pig and Noah getting bit by a bird. HAHA
S/O this.....my brother and SIL are getting back together (brother cheated and left SIL about 3 months ago). Their first matter of business.....get a puppy. Um....what? Maybe it's just me, but that seems like a bad idea.
Wop, I love your engagement idea! It sounds perfect.
Diana, I hope things work out for your brother. It's good that they won't be getting married for awhile yet. Hopefully in that time, they'll either figure out how to be happy together, or figure out that they can't. Also, the Kent library system doesn't currently have any copies of The Book Thief available. However, L0vessummertime told me I can borrow her copy, so I may try to make that work.
Oh, no. My SIL also thinks that a puppy is the glue to any relationship. It didn't work last time, so she abandoned that dude and puppy, and is now starting over with a new dude and new puppy. Yay.
Hope things work out for your brother.
That is how my DH was going to propose to me when he bought his house! However, then the owners filed for Bankruptsy and delayed the process. He got impatient, so proposed before he got the keys. Boo... I love the idea!
Ok so My head is spinning with the amount of randoms so far. WOW!!
Chicago : Hd would still like to go with summer as a family trip but I don't' think its going to happen. He would like to take G down with the bikes and ride around.
Pizza: I'm now hungry. Thanks Girls.
Wop: I just fell in love with the name Colette.
I just picked up 5# of candy for the office. My candy jar had been empty for weeks, now I can refill it.
Regarding Colette:
Okay, so my name is Nicole, DH's is Nicholas (Nick). We could potentially have Nick, Nicole and Colette. You don't think it's too much for one family? We think we might want one more child, and we already know we won't naming them any form of Nicholas or Nicole. Weird? Not Weird? This is my hang up with the name Colette.
That would never cross my mind to think it is weird. I would not think Colette is a form of Nicholas or Nichole IMO. Also, who cares what other people think! Name her the name you love even if other people think it is "weird".
Agreed!
Puppies are not relationship glue and I share your annoyance at them being used that way.
So sad for the dogs that end up homeless when the relationship doesn't work out.
Ditto this.
And good thing your last name isn't Nickleson
Ha, last Friday I didn't take a shower until 4:00 p.m., right before I had to start dinner so it would be ready in time for L getting home from work.
I'll add it to my list :-)
