I wouldn't call it a tradition, but an afternoon spent hanging laundry, picking and drying fresh fruits and vegetables, and then reading in the hammock is a lovely one.
There's also a local fair that i go to nearly every year; in my mind it's sort of a goodbye to summer.

TOMATOES! August is all about the tomatoes, every year. We can, dehydrate, freeze...I see tomatoes in my dreams, heh. Not sure if that qualifies as a tradition.
