Mom's birthday

So I've decided to cook for my mom's birthday this weekend. I plan on making baguettes, a creamy chicken pasta and salad along with a fruity tart of cake (she's not a huge chocolate eater). Should I add something else to go with it or is this too heavy for a summer dinner with friends in New Orleans? What are your thoughts?

Re: Mom's birthday

  • Creamy chicken pasta does sound a little heavy for the time of year.  How about a little more of a primavera style instead?  Saute some onion, garlic, squash, zucchini, fresh beans, asparagus, whatever veggies look good in some olive oil.  Add either some fresh or canned tomatoes.  Then toss with the pasta and chicken.

I'd probably have some munchies out when people arrive too.

  • There's no such thing as food being 'too heavy' in New Orleans - in my opinion, the Food Capital of the World! Smile!

I think the menu is great, but as the previous poster suggested, some hors d'oeuvres or crudite platter to start would be nice.

As long as you're sure that none of the guests are vegetarians, you should be fine...I like the menu.

    I completely agree!
