Hello! I grew up and was raised just south of Grand Rapids, but five years ago moved to Northeast Pennsylvania. I'm about 2 hours from New York City. Whenever I'm homesick I have been lurking on your board and decided it's time to come out of hiding and join you. I was just home to visit Mom and Dad last weekend and it was so hard coming back to PA. I'm married, with four step-children, ages 22, 21, 17 and 11. Also have three kitties that are my babies and they are very spoiled. So that's a little about me. . . .
Re: Can I join you?
Welcome! Do you enjoy PA? What are some of the main differences you find between living there and living in west Michigan?
We are a great board, as you've probably already figured out.
Don't be afraid to jump in and participate whenever/wherever.
wohoo a new person
Unlike you, I am from the east coast and miss it!
Yeah!! I'm in!! Sorry I didn't reply back over the weekend. Our house was crazy, celebrating a birthday for the husband and then our anniversary as well.
The main difference between West MI and PA is the people. My area in the Pocono Mountains is full of people from "The City". They have summer homes and invade the area every year from May to October. It's amazing to pull into the Walmart parking lot and see nothing but NJ and NY license plates. The small town that I live in is very much like the one I grew up in in MI. So I do feel comfortable and at home here. I've made great friends and found a wonderful church. Another difference would be the winters. What you guys get in snow, we usually get in ice. Couple that with the mountain roads and sometimes it's a crazy drive to get to work! Luckily I work for the local school district and get to take advantage of all those snow/ice days!
Well, have a great Monday!
Welcome!
I live pretty close to Lake Michigan and can definitely relate to the summer tourist invasion
We love kitties on this board (as you've probably already figured out). Would you share some details about your three?
Ahhhh, yes, my furry babies. They are so much fun and completely spoiled. When I walk in the house, I just have to say "Where are my furry girls?" and they all come running. They pretty much ignore my husband if I'm around. I think that's hysterical. Two of them are a year old, not siblings, but we rescued them at the same time as 8 week olds. Sasha is black and white and has the attitude of a queen. She wants to be loved on her terms only and lets everyone know when she's crabby. Boo is a tortise shell, multi color black, brown and orange. She's a tad overweight, mild temperment, hides from all things male. But follows me around and always has an eye on where I am. Our newest baby is Daisy, she's 12 weeks old, orange and white stripes and has taken over the household. She loves people and will greet everyone as they enter the house. She loves to be loved and cuddled and is most happy napping on your chest or shredding a roll of paper towel. We are very lucky that all three of them get along. I have told my husband that we are at our kitty limit. I don't want to be known as the crazy cat lady of Northeast PA!
Love Lake Michigan. We went to Mackinaw Island for our honeymoon. And then drove to my parents, took the route that takes you along the lakeshore. Hubby was amazed at how beautiful it is. Was fun to show him all the places I grew up with. He had never been to MI before and now he loves going back!
Aw, your kitties sound adorable and so much fun! Love them!
I have two, myself. One -- Jinx -- matches the physical description of your Boo. The other -- Zoey -- is white and tiger striped.
