Our office is becoming the nursery, so I've begun the process of cleaning everything out.
First, what do you do with cards that you receive - birthday, Christmas, thank yous, whatever?
How about magazines? I have about a gabillion Better Homes and Gardens and Food Network (which I have no interest in) and I have no idea what to do with them. Just throw them away after I'm doing looking at them?
I feel like I have a very good organization system for everything else; I just don't know what to do with these things. I feel bad throwing them away.

Re: Let's talk organization
i save cards that are special to me, others i recycle. same for christmas cards. i already have pre-printed labels for those so i usually just make sure it's updated if someone new sends me a card.
as for magazines, we usually have a circle of people that we share with. my mom gets the us weekly and parents, my friend gets the glamours, etc... if there is an article or something i like in it, i rip it out and put it in one of those photo boxes for organization. sometimes i bring them to my office (which a lot of our pt's do as well. they rip their address label off and leave them in the waiting room). otherwise, i recycle them as well.

I used to keep every single card. Now I've started throwing them all out. I don't have room to be keeping stuff anymore. Unless it's super special then I would.
For magazines I've started pulling out articles I think I'll want to reference later (parenting magazines) and keeping them in a 3 ring binder. And I'll pull out recipes and stick them in a folder I keep with my cookbooks.
I'm horrible with not getting rid of anything either. For cards I do save a lot of them. If you are really wanting to purge, save ones that have special meaning or some really fun/interesting print. With Christmas cards, I often use them to make gift tags You could really do that with any of them.
Magazines I would rip out any articles that you might want to read again later. Then recycle them.

I keep all my cards in a box. I am sentimental like that and as long as it is contained to one box I think I am okay.
I had about 100 magazines saved up, it took me a few months but I started going through and saving articles, then I organized them in categories in a binder. It was quite an undertaking but now that that is done, I just have to rip out articles when I find them now.

Recycle it all. I don't hold onto much b/c we don't have the room for it.
If there is something in a magazine I want to save, I'll rip it out for saving. Recipes go in a folder I have in the kitchen and house ideas I'm finding I can google and just pin to pinterest and then recycle the page.
