Cost for House Cleaning and Landscaping?

After 6 years of owning our home, we're throwing in the towel with regards to some of the upkeep.  Between our super hectic jobs and 2 young kids - we're tired of wasting our precious down time cleaning the house and taking care of the lawn.  We need help.

I want to start planning for the additional costs and look at how it will affect our budget.  As such, I'm hoping to get a ballpark idea of what we should expect to pay.  I know it can vary a bit, but any info will be helpful.

If you don't mind sharing, can you please advise the cost/frequency of your house cleaner and/or landscaping service?  Also, if you're in the The Woodlands - a recommendation would be a bonus!

Thanks!

Re: Cost for House Cleaning and Landscaping?

  • We have an average size neighborhood lot and we pay $25 every other week for our lawn service. They mow and trim and cut down the weeds in the front flower bed. They also treat for ants and fertilize when applicable.

We don't currently have a housekeeper, so I can't help you there.  When we did have one she cleaned our 3 bed, 1500 sq ft house every other week and I think it was $60 each visit.

  • We pay $35 every other week for our lawn.

We don't have a cleaning service, but based on my mom's experience and that of friends, I will say pricing will vary greatly based on  # of people, frequency, scope of the job, and, honestly, what their standards of "clean" are.

  • We pay $35 per week for lawn.

Our housekeeper comes every other week and we pay her $100 each visit.  We have a 3600 sq foot home and lot's of doggie hair.

  • Our housekeeper charges $80 to clean our house (approx 2800 sq ft) each time.

Our lawn service charges $25/week, I believe.

Both TOTALLY, totally worth it.  We had gotten rid of both to save some money right after I had Charlotte.  Two and a half years later, we brought the lawn service back, and just this past January, we brought the housekeeper back.
