Moss & mold issues in yard

We've had a very rainy summer and have a fairly shady backyard with poor drainage in the soil so it's swampy out there.  The gardens are bordered by bricks which are getting covered in moss and I'm finding patches of a black mold in the grass.  Any suggestions for an animal friendly solution besides having to scrub each brick (well over a hundred of them)?

  • At least with mold/mushrooms, a good dry spell usually takes care of it.

  • I would pressure wash the bricks. I don't know if you could pour a mix of white vinegar and water on the bricks to prevent stuff from growing on them. I think vinegar can kill grass... but, it is good in other areas of the garden. Vinegar kills mold and treats some other plant diseases and gets rid of some pests.

  • Dealing with the mold, I get, but why go to a lot of work getting rid of the moss only to have it pop up again when it gets rainy? IMHO, it's a lost cause, of course, I live in the PNW, so I'm used to it.
