Weekend plans?

What are you up to this weekend?

Today, I'm meeting my sister to go interview outfit shopping, to get a little lunch and maybe a movie, if there is time.

I also might have to call a plumber today, if the Drano doesn't fix the kitchen sink drain problem. We have to have the house snaked about once a year due to small pipes and stupid planning on the builder's behalf. Thanks, dude.

Tomorrow will probably just be groceries and cleaning. The place is a mess! The cats got in a tussle the other night and there is hair all over the living room lol. I think H is going to be prepping witnesses so it'll likely be just me.

Re: Weekend plans?

  • My mission this weekend is to get rid of fleas.  Fun times, right?  Anyone else having a hard time with fleas this year?  Any one have any tips for getting rid of them?

I don't particularly want to use strong shampoos, powders or sprays full of chemicals, because LO is crawling and rolling all over the floors these days.  He loves to play with the dogs also.  Maybe I'm being too cautious, but I can't help it.

Do you treat your dogs for fleas? We give Callie Comfortis, it's a pill and it tastes nasty, and it makes her sick, but Frontline just doesn't work for her. We've not had any problems this year.

If they are in your house, I'd call a company and see what kind of service they can provide that is safe for your family and your pets.

  • My parents are in town this weekend (I haven't seen them since Christmas!!), so we'll be doing a combination of sightseeing, eating, and sitting around talking.

We're moving next weekend, so I really need to start packing up the house. DH will help when I give him a specific task to do, but isn't good about taking the initiative and doing things on his own.  I was out of town for a week and came back expecting some things to be already packed, but he told me that there was too much to do so he didn't do anything. *sigh*

This. Once we moved to Oklahoma, Frontline wouldn't cut it any more. We switched to Comfortis and it worked like a charm.

If you have fleas in the house currently, I think you can use baking soda to smother them in some way---check with Google, but I swear I've heard that before.

DH works all weekend, so I'm having a sloth night with a couple of friends from work  (movies + beer + junk food.) I'm also in the middle of a good book so the plan tomorrow is to finish it.

  • Were getting ready to head to OKC for the night. FIL is getting some award for his service in the National Guard tomorrow so were staying with them tonight.

Found the recipe that our rescue group uses!!!

Mix together 1 1/2 pounds of diatomaceous earth, 1 1/2 pounds of natural borax and 1 cup of salt. (Don't use the earth and borax that you can purchase at a pool store, rather use the products that you can get from your local garden store.)  The diatomaceous earth works because it contains very tiny particles that have sharp spines, which puncture the exoskeleton of the flea, killing it.  The borax and salt work by absorbing the moisture of the flea and make all of those cracks and small areas that they might find to live in your home much more undesirable.

  • Yesterday I went for a mani/pedi with my friend and caught up with my TIVO shows.

I work all day today, boo. DH and I are going to BIL's bday party tonight.

Tomorrow I have church and some down time, but I am working again for a few hours in the evening. Gotta love the start of new semester!

  • Yesterday, we picked up our textbooks for this semester and ate some dinner.

Today, DH had to work. I cleaned and just got back from running at the gym. Tonight, we're going on a double date.

Tomorrow, we have church and a little more cleaning.

  • DH had to work today, so G and I went to Stillwater to visit my sister. We hung out, went to lunch, had some delish cupcakes leftover from her birthday, and I finally got to see the townhouse she moved into a couple weeks ago. DH got home just before we did, so I picked up pizza for dinner and we'll probably watch a movie or something after G goes to bed.

No plans tomorrow, but I do need to do laundry and some cleaning.
  • Today, the kids and I tried to straighten the garage a bit and then just played until bedtime. Once g is done nursing, I'm going to do my cleaning list. Tomorrow we are going to church and then to my parents for a bit. I'm hoping they will keep my bigs for a few hours so I can run some errands too.

  • Friday night I fell asleep at 8 p.m. Embarrassed Yesterday I went to a friend's jewelry party in the afternoon, and then DH and I went to a couples wedding shower. We slept in this morning (missed church...oops) and today will just be a day of cleaning, working on lesson plans, and studying for DH.

  • Yesterday we went to a movie (Fright Night with Colin Farrell, yum!) and had an early dinner. We came home afterwards and crashed (literally) for a few hours.

Today I am doing a load of cleaning. We both start the fall semester tomorrow and during the week we are so busy we barely have time to cook, let alone clean.

  • Ran some errands Friday. Nothing crazy. Yesterday I went shopping at the outlet mall with my BFF in the morning, and then H and I went to dinner last night. Today I went and rode a horse so some prospective buyers could watch her. And now, for the fun part of the weekend: Laundry.

I saw that with my sister--it was fun! I might see if Netflix has the original streaming and watch it tonight.

  • We went to Dallas on Friday night.  We took our Puppy with us and it was so much fun!  She was SUCH a good doggie - I can't believe how good she was!  We did some home renovation shopping and hung out at a friend's house - we got drunk and sobered up three times on Saturday.  When we got up to leave today, DH's car started overheating, so we left it in Dallas and will be going back NEXT weekend to get it.  Good grief.  Happy to be home and so happy the doggie liked her quick getaway.
