Your recommendations would mean the most!

Hi everyone,

I'm a Phoenix Nestie that will be passing through the Miami beach area before leaving for Costa Rica. I'm going to spend a day in Miami with my husband. We are thinking of spending a lot of time on the beach...we don't see a lot of water in the desert. ;)  Any recommendations for hotels (under $150), bars/restaurants, must do's? I really want to eat some good Cuban food and I imagine Miami is the place to do it. I appreciate any help you could provide.

Oh, what is the weather like in late October there?

  • Wow, this board is dead!  I'm a native South Floridian, but haven't hung around here in a while and I know Ft. Lauderdale better since that's where I grew up.  Anyway, I can't give you specific recs in the Miami Beach or South Beach area, but I'm sure there's some good Cuban food in the area.  If you haven't already, try searching yelp or opentable.com.  I often find good places there with reliable reviews there.  No ideas on hotels, sorry.  Must dos vary on what you're interested in and if you'll have transportation.  Vizcaya is fun, Coral Castle is also pretty unique as is the Everglades.  There's always the beach, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of that in Costa Rica.  Weather wise, it's not bad.  It'll still be warm, of course, and it may be rainy some days as it's still hurricane season.  But seriously it could rain on any given day in South Florida.  :)  Anyway, I hope this helped at least somewhat and enjoy your stay!
