Vacuum for laminate floors?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good vacuum cleaner to use on laminate floors?  I feel like the one we currently have does not pick up as much it should even though we use the "floor" setting.

TIA

Re: Vacuum for laminate floors?

  • My old house had laminate and I always used the Swiffer vacuum on it.

For my hardwoods now - I plan on buying a Dyson - although it's so expensive.

  • We're currently using a shop vac with a better head from a local sew/vac seller.  I'd look for a canister vac because they work better on hard floors.

  • I have a Dyson.  It works well, I love that I can turn the bristles off, but hindsight I'd just buy another cheapie from Target/Walmart (the Dyson is better, but it's not THAT much better to justify the extra cost IMO).
  • Dyson DC-25. Any other vacuums I used on my laminate just blew the dirt around.
  • My Eureka boss smartvac does a good job - mine's about 6 years old, so I can't vouch for the new ones, but it's held up well. We have cats and I always think it's funny when I push it up near a bookcase or something and I can see the cat fur flying out from under and into my vacuum.

  • the cheapest way is to buy a bissil stick vac. it cost about $20 at walmart, if you are not looking to replace your current vacuum.
  • I use the swiffer vac.  It's cheap and does a good job.
