This is bad, but I only keep track of when the Cowboys are playing so I can get 10% off at Albertson's.

Ditto.  But also because we want to know when not to go.

Grocery shopping during Cowboys games is the best. There is hardly anyone at the store. :)

  • Congrats Leslie!

From the pictures of Kim K's wedding, I thought the ceremony setting was very beautiful.  The two younger sisters looked very grown up in their bridesmaids dresses, and I heard on the Today show that the nephew Mason stole the show.

  • Congrats Leslie!  What kind of jeans did you buy?
  • I'm shocked that I hadn't seen anything about Kim K's wedding. And just now, I googled it, and still had a hard time finding any photos! Bizarre, considering the whole thing was paid for to be publicized. But good in general, because I'm not a huge fan of hers.

But I have to say -- from just the one image I was able to find, I kind of like the headband thing. I used to pull headbands forward like that when I was a kid -- I think it reminded me of Princess Jasmine or something.

  • Marie - I liked the headband too.   I wouldn't wear it personally, but I thought it was really pretty.
  • I spent over 10 hours working in a classroom over the weekend, and I'm not even a teacher! Wink

Saturday we got the results from DH's latest blood work, and his triglycerides are off the charts. Like, scary high. The doctor actually mailed a prescription with the results. You would never look at him and think, hey, that guy probably has high cholesterol. We've both been struggling to find the motivation to be consistent with our diet and exercise, and now it's landed in our mailbox. He's pretty upset about it, but I think (hope) we can get his numbers down in the next few months.

Re: Moving. I used to dream about moving when I was in college, in fact my friend and I had plans to move to NYC after graduation. But as my friends and family have started to have kids, and knowing that we want kids soon, and with Courts slowly but surely building a business, it appeals less and less. I know a lot of people live far from family, but the thought of not having my kids near their grandparents makes me very sad.

  • My DH talks about moving to CO all the time.  I'm not a huge fan of the idea unless he got an amazing job offer or something.  Our family is in DFW and I love having everyone so close. I can't imagine being in another state with no family or friends at all.

  • This is my 4th time writing this.

DH got his boss' old iPhone (it is not hooked up to AT&T yet) a couple of weeks ago and I'm about ready to throw it in the nearest body of water.  I'm hoping the newness of it will wear off soon because I am so tired of seeing the stupid thing.

Our DVR died sometime on Friday.  Thankfully there was nothing on there that I can't get onDemand (with the exception of my future recordings) except my Ugly Betty collection.  I wonder what people think when they get other families recordings.  When we got our box, there was Boy Meets World and they had the series finale, which I had never seen.  I hope they enjoy my Ugly Betty and DH's alien and auction recordings.

Decided to start canning this weekend but we bought something that is not compatible with our stove so we have to buy the correct stuff on the internet and I ended up having to freeze all my stuff like normal.

We have an event at work that happens on the same day for many, many years now.  I don't know how many people I have told in the last few weeks that it will either be this coming Thursday or Friday because that was the plan.  Someone got a wild hair up their butt late Friday and have moved it to tomorrow.  The fun part?  They still have not decided what time this event will happen and it's almost 12 pm the day before.  I'm going to have a lot of people royally PO'd at me.  Oh boy, can't wait.

High cholesterol has been a hot topic at work.  One guy cut out red meat, started drinking red wine and eating black garlic.  I think his dropped around 40 points over a month or 2.  Another guy just did black garlic and his dropped 30 points after a month.  DH's doctor made him start taking fish oil.  But yes you are right, you can't tell someone's cholesterol by just looking at them.

Black garlic, like the fermented kind from Asian countries? I thought it was an expensive/rare product, where do they get it? I've been curious to try it anyways.

I think we're going to have to take more drastic measures. His diet wasn't great anyways, and for a long time he never did cardio, just weights. But now I have evidence to back me up. Wink

I can't imagine being in another state with no family or friends at all.

I moved to a new state for a job at 21 and made very few new friendships. It was a pretty lonely existance for quite a long time. Luckily I met DH and relocated here, to where he grew up, when he was offered a better job. His parents are here, but I only see mine about 2x a year. I am a bit jealous sometimes, especially since my parents are planning to retire and move to the south in just a few months, where my bro lives. It's always in the back of mind that I'd love to be closer to my parents, especially when we have children.

  • I couldn't imagine moving away.  I'm a really shy person, and I love being close to my family.  I hang out with my sister as often as possible, and wish I was closer to my parents than the current 2-hour drive.

I am not accomplishing much today, and it's really wearing me down and making me grouchy and self-conscious.  I don't like not doing well at work Sad

  • Hi!!!!  (waves)

I'm having a great first day of school.  I love our new schedule so far and I'm so excited to be able to legally/legitimately be able to go home at 3 PM every day if I want to.

I would love to move but Bill's job doesn't exist in a whole lot of places (NYC, Chicago and Silicon Valley) where we could afford to buy real estate.  Plus, it could be hard for me to find a job since I teach a very specific content area.  We used to live in Carson City, NV (half way between Tahoe and Reno) and it was wonderful--no allergies, you could survive without an A/C (trust me), and I loved the town.

    Anna,

Bill was with me the whole time that I was in my classroom over the weekend, doing his own work.  I didn't want to come up here on Sunday but I had to mentor the new teacher on Saturday and she took up all the time that I could be there, so that's why we were here on Sunday.

I felt similar when DH finally got his checked at Christmas and it was high.  I've been telling him since we got together that his diet (mainly consisting of Taco Bell) was not doing anything good even though he was as thin as a rail.  He got his act together for 3 months and his level did go down a bit but now he's back to his bad habits.

You can actually make black garlic at home because it is expensive.  I have not attempted this yet because I don't have a rice steamer (there are other appliances you can use though) but I have the directions at home if you would like them.

  • Hmm I haven't seen anything about the wedding yet either.  I will have to look up pictures!

Leslie- YAY!  That is so awesome!  I know how hard you have been working! :-)

My B&M is just that I had a crappy weekend.  There was this giant spider that crawled on my foot in the garage that was really gross.  DH definitely had to come kill it.  Then we got in a fight over something stupid on Saturday.  Just little things like that.  And one of our dogs was sick and there was an unpleasant mess we woke up to on Sunday morning....I am just so tired now!

  • Leslie -- AMAZING! I would have cried, too. That's such a cool accomplishment. Congrats!

Mack just surprised me... he cashed in some of our "reward" points to get me a $100 gift card to JCP Not the fanciest, but it's new clothes, which is ALWAYS good! :)

    Bling and feathers?

This one's going to be tragic. Mark my words.

Agree. I'd also like to know who her photog is, so that I can blogstalk when the time comes. Bad weddings are almost as fun to look at as good ones!

Hehe, my best friend wants exactly this except with pink instead of green... and no zebra on a BM dresses at all.

She has a collection of inspiration pics though where is has been very tastefully done. Even with feathers and bling.   She doesn't have a groom yet though, so this may change with his 'say' some day.

Although, you guys are right... it doesn't sound like this girl has thought this out too well.

Her wedding favor is chapstick and she just used the word "anywayz".  She can't be over 19.

  • Good suggestions, Brianna.... I actually saw a wedding on FB (young friend of a friend) that had those same dresses OP is talking about - they're very juvenile.  I think they're from David's Bridal.  Cute for prom or something, maybe, but not a wedding - unless you're about 17... in which case you shouldn't really be having a wedding... but that's a-whole-nother topic Wink

I just finally caught a break at work today - I go back and forth daily (sometimes a few times) on whether I think my manager thinks I'm an idiot/incompetent/ignorant/insert-other-negative-word-here.  At this moment, I'm feeling good about it haha.

Yes! 0 weeks and 3 days! She would still be on her period if that were true. What a piece of work!

That made me LOL. And then, when she admitted she's 18, it made me *head/desk*. And this is coming from someone who had a baby at 17. She's either MUD, or I weep for the future.
