Bachelorette Party Ideas? Anyone?

Hi! I am new to the boards here (that sounds like a dorky way to introduce myself but whatever). My BIL is getting married in October leaving me to plan FSILs bachelorette party in a few weeks. She wants to celebrate in Chicago which is great! except, I am a girl from the suburbs with no idea about what we should do.

Chicago bachelorette party ideas?

Re: Bachelorette Party Ideas? Anyone?

  • Is she a big party girl? Then I'd recommend a bar crawl on Rush and Division. They have a website and you can set up party packages at the more major bars. I see bach parties everytime I go out there. If she's a little more laid back I'd do a nice hotel, nice dinner and something like Howl at the Moon. It's a really fun piano bar but not as wild as some bars.
  • howl at the moon is a great place to have it.  we had a party for my moh there and it was great!

  • I am helping plan my FSIL's bachelorette party in Chicago (its actually in a few weeks) so I can give you a few ideas but it definitely depends on what the bride likes and your budget because there are so many options.  For example: We are starting the night off in a hotel suite with catered dinner and presents- the suite has a dining area and bar area, so plenty of seating for dinner.  Then from there we have a limo picking us up to go to a roof top bar and then on to other places.  Our bride to be is a beer drinker so we are trying to pick places that cater to that instead of the typical city "bottle service".   Then whoever wants is welcome to crash at the hotel.

What are some of the things your bride likes/prefers and how much are you looking to spend?

  • Wow! Thanks everyone!

She is also a beer drinker and doesn't want to do the whole stripper thing. I was thinking Howl at the Moon- haven't been and I don't think Mr. would want to go with me. Budget- not sure... What happens at Howl at the Moon?

  • For my bachelorette party we went to Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club, went to a comedy club, and then went out for drinks in Old Town. We got dressed up and had a ton of fun!

Howl at the Moon is a dueling piano bar and if you purchase one of the "bachelorette" packages, they will announce your bride and I think bring her up on stage.  Saturdays are rock-n-roll music nights.  Our brides older sister suggested it and the bride was like- no way.   I have never been there but get the idea it is geared toward women @30 and older??  The bride for ours is only 24.  We are doing bars that play dance music later in the night and basically just drinking and dancing.  There are a ton of great bars at Rush & Division.  Maybe check Mothers, Lux Bar, Bar Chicago, etc.  Rockit on Hubbard is also supposed to be fun.

  • I hosted a bachelorette party last month and it was great! We started with catered dinner, drinks, and presents at my place. (For inexpensive catering check out Lee & Eddies- they are great!) Afterwards we went on a 2 hour pedal pub tour, http://chicago.pedalpub.com/. It was SO MUCH fun! Then we went to a couple bars in Old Town, but they were a little too stuffy for the bride so we didn't stay super long. We finished the night at Carol's in Uptown, which is never a bad time. It's a country western dive bar with live music and dancing. It's open super late Saturdays and the crowd is always a great mix.
