Hi all! I'm a regular on the NorCal board (but live in Seattle) and I'll be taking my first trip to Atlanta in a couple weeks (Sept. 8-11).
I'll have Thursday afternoon and all day Saturday to see the sights. Any recommendations?
I'll be traveling alone, on a budget and have that limited timeframe. I'm staying near the airport in Atlanta. I'll have a rental car on Saturday. I love good food, shopping and historical sights.
Thanks for any tips!
Re: Visiting Atlanta
If you like to shop, you might want to head to Virginia Highlands, where there are lots of cute shops. Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza in Buckhead are high end shopping malls and are right next to each other.
The Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca Cola are always fun if you want to do something touristy. For historical sites, check out the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site: http://www.nps.gov/malu/index.htm.
