Hey girl - any update on the condo situation???  Just hoping you had some good news....

    Here's the latest drama...... apparently this girl really wants it.  She talked to the manager of her apt complex and she indicated she could get out of her lease, the asst mngr said she could w/some penalties - like she'd have to finish paying out the rent at the current mkt price, forfiet her sec dep, pay an extra months rent, etc.  Some of this I've heard b/f but not having to pay the rent through to the end of her lease.  It would add up to be like over 3K in fees, which she can't afford (and surprises me b/c she is supposedly 48 and works in the financial industry!!!).  OH and did I mention this is a Buckhead complex and they have a waiting list a mile long!!! WTH?!!?!?!  Not like you can't fill her spot!!!

    So I did some investigating and found out which complex is hers - called the place and played dumb as if I wanted a lease, if I were to break it what were the stipulations.  Well they never said anything about paying the rest of the lease at market price, or any other fees except giving up the sec dep and pay a month's rent, giving 60 days notice.  That's pretty standard.

    Anyways, so her agent is trying to find out from her about her lease, what it says, etc. so we can find out more.  My agent is REALLY trying to help me as we all want it to work out.

    All I've been doing is just praying hard, I've turned it over to God but asking him for us to PLEASE have this contract work out!!!!

  • Hmmm, that sounds seriously shady.  Does she not have a copy of her lease??  So interested to see what it says!  I'll keep praying that it works out for you guys!!!!

    I even thought about having her agent, mine and myself write the leasing agent a letter!!!  I mean it would help all of us in this economy and it's not like they can't rent her unit if they have a waiting list!!!! ugh.

    yes, my agent asked the buyers agent to get a copy of her lease so that it could be reviewed.  I'm sure my agent won't get to see it but they work for the same real estate company so they all have lawyers in their offices so that buyers agent's office could have someone review it.

  • That's so messed up.  I've rented a lot, and every lease I've had the penalty was to give up the security deposit, and pay 1 or 2 months rent.  One apartment complex I lived in I ended up paying out my lease when I moved (out of state to a new job) but only because it would have been cheaper than paying the penalties.

    I hope they are able to work something out with her!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  • Thanks yall, it just seems like they would be willing to work w/her (us) on this when they aren't going to lose any money (they have a wait list a mile long!!!! 

    My agent just emailed me and said the buyers agent is to get a copy of the lease today and is going to review it.  Not sure what will happen but am just praying hard!!!

  • That's really shady. Especially if they told her the same thing they told you, but put those details in a lease and she signed it.  I hope they get caught for what they're pulling and you can sell your condo!  Sending up some prayers for you!
  • Thanks SO much yall.  I really want it to work, get everything moved out/over and get Brad's house sold so we can decide where we want to be/stay.  He wants to be close to my family so when we have kids we have help since both our jobs are so demanding.  I'm hoping I can find a new one though.

    Hope I have good news soon and we can move on to the next thing!!!!  I just keep praying about it.
