here's a good scam re Target
I bought a new microwave on Sunday, DH unpacked it yesterday and it was the totally WRONG microwave. I bought a Panasonic, but the one in the box was a Sharp and looked like it had been used a few times (ewwww).
DH insisted we take it back to Target immediately so they wouldn't think we switched them. I thought he was overreacting, but they did treat it very seriously, so I'm glad we took it back immediately. The manager came out and talked to us and asked DH about when he unpacked, was X in place, what manuals were in there, where were they packed, etc.
I think I might just order one now!

I'd never be creative enough to come up with a scam like that. That was a pretty good idea by someone.
When I used to work at Sports Authority (back in the day), people used to steal shoes by just wearing them out of the store. Every once in a while, a customer would come up to the register with a box of old dirty shoes. The ol' switcheroo.
... every single day of forever.
This happened to us when we got married. Someone purchased us a toaster oven from BBB as a gift. Once we opened it, we discovered it had been used because there were crumbs in the bottom. I'm 99% sure it wasn't the person that gave us the gift.
It's crazy what some people will do to cheat stores/save money.
I once was thinking about buying this really cute suitcase from Target. I went to one of the stores, rolled it around, opened it up... and found a bunch of opened and emptied DVD cases inside.
I said to myself "It's a sign!" and I didn't buy the suitcase!
I mean really, how hard is it for the rep taking the return to verify the product matches?
This annoys me so much. That's wild though that it happened to you.
