Charlotte ladies - Need help please

Hi Ladies,

My DH, DS and I will be traveling to Charlotte this weekend for a funeral. The situation in staying with family doesn't look like it will work out, but when trying to book a hotel we are told the ones were are suggesting are in bad areas. We are looking in the Pineville area (according to mapquest). I have never been to NC before so I'm not sure of the area.  I had found a good rate at the Courtyard at Arrowood but that is what we are being told is a bad area. I'd prefer Marriott properties so I can use a discount I have access to, but other hotels would be fine too.

 TIA for helping me out.

Re: Charlotte ladies - Need help please

  • I haven't lived in Charlotte for too long so I don't know how much help I am, but the Ballantyne area is pretty nice. I would check that out.

  • Are you talking about the Courtyard at Arrowood and 77?  I wouldn't say it's a bad area, it's just not one of the cute developed areas.  There are several hotels right at 77 and Arrowood because there are several office parks there - Microsoft, TWC, etc.  You won't be close to anything there in terms of shopping and restaurants (I think there's a Ruby Tuesday and a Wendys in the immediate area), but you're not far at all from Pineville, and since you're coming for a funeral, I doubt you're really interested in where the better shopping is.  Certainly Ballantyne or Southpark are nicer, but if you just need a clean place to sleep, I wouldn't have a problem staying there, especially if price is an issue.
