Holy Earthquake Batman!

We just felt the VA/DC earthquake in MA. It was crazy. Our building just started to shake.

Re: Holy Earthquake Batman!

  • It sounds pretty scary! I've never felt an earthquake. The tremors didn't make it to my area of NC evidently.

  • We felt it here in central PA. I actually thought it was someone doing work on the floor below me in our work office building (its happened before) until we realized my whole team felt it and so did DH who works in a different building. We evacuated for about 10-15 minutes but are back inside now.

We never ever expect to feel earthquakes in central PA, I can't remember it ever happening here before.

Back in about 90 there was one in York County...most people didn't feel it much but my parents' house foundation shifted...

I thought it was the neighbors (duplex) doing laundry at first until I realized I'd never felt their washer before.  My poor kitty fell off my chair

  • We felt it very very faintly here in Ottawa.  My computer screen rocked a bit and I thought maybe I was about to be sick. From what I've heard, it was mostly felt by people in really old buildings.

  • Yeah I felt it at work...and we are in a pretty old building so that's probably why.

The best part about that whole ordeal was the hilarious articles that came out after it happened. Like:

  • I didn't feel anything, but people in my office did.

When people on the news were going on and on about it yesterday morning, my husband turned to me and said, "you know we sound like people in the south who got 1/4 inch of snow, right?" (Obviously not the people near the epicenter. Just the people who thought it was a construction truck or something until they heard otherwise, and then turned all ZOMG!QUAKAPOCALYPSE!"
