Re: StingShark
We ended up not being able to go. Mother nature poo-poo'd on our plans. We got up at the ass-crack of dawn so that we could hit up west marine for some fishing stuff before we headed out.
We were on the boat and in the jupiter inlet by 6:45am.. Then for the next 2hrs we got beat to death and only made it 20 miles. effthat. My Dad said, no way and we turned around and headed back in.. If we were going for a week it would be okay to spend 6hrs crossing, but to be going for one day it wasn't worth it to spend the majority of the day crossing over.
We are req'd to have flood insurance.... it makes no sense to me. My house is 14ft off the ground. and there has only been one flood in Hbeach in the last million years.
The apt downstairs isn't covered because we aren't even supposed to have it down there.. so if it floods thats just a loss we have to take.
We used to be required when we bought our house and I thought that was crazy because I'm not on a beach, but we are near lots of creeks and our yard, screened porch and garage flood. It hasn't gone into our house, yet, but we haven't had a major storm since we've lived here. We were recently rezoned and are no longer required to carry the flood, so we dropped it. I've since heard that it is very inexpensive if it's not required so I'm thinking of adding it back again.
