It's just so weird.
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

Just doesn't add up.
Last week FI and I had a discussion about what constitutes a lawful order, after a bunch of jokes about who will obey who when we couldn't find a chaplain to marry us. We decided that my only shot of being able to give him a lawful order if I commission is if I'm on a FET on an Osprey, and it crashes into his aircraft, and I'm the highest ranking surrvivor. It would be all Courage Under Fire style. I'm chill though, I told him I'd consider him to be the platoon sergeant if no one else was available.
anyway, what Os and NCOs can order people to do is clearly quite limited, and I'm horrified that OP, likely OP's FI (since he would have corrected her otherwise), OP's friend, and friend's tool boyfriend all think E5s can make you do anything. I *think* the sergeant was kidding,
The H and I had jokes about "obey" in our vows as well. I mean we took "obey" out but we (the H, chaplain, and I) had a good laugh about it. The H said "she didn't obey her mother growing up, what makes me think she will obey me?" That was only one of the jokes. HAA!!!
Anyway on the other matter, I really do find that hard to believe.

Yeah, I don't quite get that either. I'm trying to imagine the situation in my mind and it isn't working.
The closest I've ever even seen was at that last wedding I went to, the Chief made one of the Jr. Enlisted go to his car to retrieve a card instead going and getting it himself. We gave him *** for that. But that's not even the same ballpark.

She's young, hoping to enlist in the Army, then go O. She's young. She tries, but she posts whatever thought she has, without always expanding. She reminds me of CatsareNiice on MM, if you lurk there at all.
In her original into post in April, she said she met her FI on a dating website in November (uh... so... 6 months at most) and that they didn't have any LOs but that they were trying. At age 19 or 20 or whatever she is and only knowing each other 6 months?! Engaged and trying for a baby?!
And then she started talking about enlisting, but recently they've "made big life decisions" so I'm guessing she's either pregnant or planning to get pregnant, based on her intro. She also says she was going to join the Army when she had no other career choices, but then within a week later she has a job where "she could be owning her own business and making 6 figures in 5 years". Sure, if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you, sweetie.

Nope, she's not going Army anymore. She says "not right now" but you know that means never. I don't think she had the discipline to join the military anyway.
And I think Avon or MaryKay is right on! I'm pretty sure she's doing something like that.
