If you had $1k to spend at Saks, what would you buy?
This is very hypothetical. I did not run into a $1k Saks GC, it's just slow today. I picked Saks so it would be fun and not at all practical.
Re: If you had $1k to spend at Saks, what would you buy?
I'd finally buy myself a pair of Christian Louboutins.
Preferably these:
That's $595... So $405 left.
Then a good pair of designer jeans. For shiggles, we'll say $150..
Some Tory Burch flats.. another $200
That leaves me $100. So I'd probably just wander around & see what struck my fancy.
$600 on shoes
$200 on jeans
$200 on miscellaneous pretty underwear
Okay, school me.... I honestly don't get the louboutin shoes thing. Is it just the fact that they advertise to everyone that you're wearing them? I mean, I think they're gorgeous, but simple enough that you could easily spend 1/4 of that (if not less) and get shoes that were just as awesome, minus the red sole. No?
Fit, quality, comfort... There's a reason they cost that much.
ETA: Oh, & they're fuckings beautiful
Same reason you want Dansko/Sanita (is that right?) over other brands. Good reputation, good quality, long lasting, good fit, good comfort over other brands.
Agreed, but I get JHaps point. I think they're definitely on to something w/the red bottoms. I think a lot of people wearing them want people to know they're wearing them. It's a status thing.
With that said, if I had the money, I would buy many pairs to invest in that quality. If I had millions, why not?
I failed to mention that when you put them on your feet, you hear angels sing.
LOL. I've never even allowed myself to cross over to the dark side to try a pair on. I've just admired the obvious quality & beauty. Are they really comfortable?
LOL. They have the exact heel that CD posted in a flat.
FWIW, I would also take these with no complaint even without the lack of red sole:
Those are beautiful. *swoon*
I've never tried on a pair but a blogger I read bought a pair in Paris and thought they were really UNcomfortable.
I lovelovelove these... but not the $1695 price tag:
See, that's where I would draw the line then. I can appreciate really good quality, but it's not enough if the damn things hurt my feet. If I could find a great pair of heels that would last and I could walk around in all day without my feet hurting, I would happily pay a few hundred for them.
I'm with you, cseale. Like I posted before, I'm actually looking into some Cole Haans after I pay off my loans. I mean, I've bought at least 5 pairs of $50 shoes and only been able to wear them once.. so what's $250-300 if they're going to last me for years and maybe even make it so that I would wear heels once in a while.
I guess my issue is that I totally see paying for comfort/durability etc... but when the sticker price goes THAT high, I start to question that it's possible for them to provide enough to warrant the sticker. But... I'm cheap and style-less, so this isn't really news to anyone. lol
