DH wants to leave Wachovia/Wells Fargo. We're thinking about either RBC or SECU. Any opinions, likes/dislikes, on these two?
Re: opnions on RBC and SECU?
No opinions on RBC, but I've been banking with SECU for years. I opened up my very first account there when I was little, and still have it.
It's a great company and about the best rates you can get (compared to a bank). They have a helpful customer service department as well. Overall good company. I can't think of any dislikes, and I haven't had any issues with them.
Ditto.
While we were in CO we used an actual bank instead of a credit union. It was a horrible experience & we couldn't get back to SECU fast enough.
I'm a big fan of SECU. The only "complaint" I have, and it's a "" complaint because it's really minor, is that they can't cash all types of savings bonds because it's a CU and not a "real bank".
H has a Coastal Federal CU account that we like as well.
I may be biased because I work with SECU, but even before I worked here I was a fan. We usually have better deposit rates than commercial banks. Sometimes our loan rates are not the best, but we do strive to have good relationships with our members.
Also, depending on what area you are in, Hometrust Bank is a good commercial bank. It is located in WNC.
