help keep me busy

while I wait to see if my cousin's wife is through her delivery, I'm going a bit insane.  I wish I could just jump on a plane and be over there, but I just can't afford it.  I've gone on two bike rides already, had a two hour nap, and now I'm obsessing over flatware.

so here's a clicky poll that I'll check every couple minutes to get your opinions.

Here is my dinnerware:

Re: help keep me busy

  • I tend to be a little bit of a traditionalist in the kitchen so A-C are a little too different for me, but they are all nice.

  • I like A the best, but that is probably because it looks like my silverware.

  • I love B. The space between the tongs (tines?) of the forks reminds me a little of the design in your plates. We almost bought that one. Kinda wish we had now.
  • I like A.  It's simple.  We were told when we were registering for the wedding that if you have a patterned plate, go with a simple flatware and glasses.  If plain dinnerware, go with a more ornate glass and flatware.  I think B is cool, but very trendy.

PS-- I LOVE your plate pattern!  The serving pieces are FAB!

  • I love your plates, and I loved A and C.

Another thing to think about is how comfortable it is to eat with the flatware. I loved the funky shaped ones, but DH hated how it felt (on his precious man hands).

  • Thanks for all the opinions!  The original flatware we had on our registry was iittala mango (below), but it's been discontinued, so I'm on the hunt for something else.

I'm going to take another look at each of the sets I posted, and look to see where they're made and the overall price.  Because otherwise, without seeing them in person, I just can't decide between any of them!  I like them all for different reasons.

Thanks for keeping me occupied.  I was awake until 3am when I finally got the news that she had delivered her son.

  • All the flatware is made in China except for A, which is made in Korea.  The prices for 5 piece setting are:

    A.  $56.95

    B.  $49

    C.  $49

    D.  $29.95 Temporarily (?) out of stock (me thinks discontinued).

    E.  $39.99

    F.  (below) $34.99

I'll just let Matt decide between these to make it easier.
