thank you notes

I have an interview coming up and I will be interviewing with 3 people.  Is it appropriate for me to take some blank thank you notes to write after the interview and leave with the receptionist?

TIA.

Re: thank you notes

  • Personally I'd leave the interview, write the thank yon notes and mail it to them.
  • I think it's a little weird, honestly.  I'd write them and mail them when you get home.

If you need a quicker turnaround, e-mail TYs are appropriate as well.

I used to be a corporate recruiter and one candidate did this.  The guard called me 5 min after she left and told me he had something for me.  When I got there and saw it was a TY from the girl that just left, I thought it was really odd and it honestly made me think much less favorably of her.

  • Yes, it's definitely a bit weird. I also try to highlight something from the interview. You can't really do that if they are done before you even interviewed.
  • You can write the TY notes in your car & drop them in a mailbox on your way home. You just can't leave them with the receptionist.
