that's awesome!  The ONE thing I wish I had done was buy one of those computer programs before Cricut sued them :-/  There are so many things I would do with the monogram if I could cut it out.  Potentially I could print it and then cut it out myself, but I guess the tricky thing would be making it stick with just regular paper.  Or maybe I could try cutting the vinyl myself?

if you use a paper stencil maybe you can use regular paint and a paint brush (as opposed to spray). that *might* work better?

these are awesome thanks!  I've also been trying to think of ways I could DIY the album, but haven't had luck yet.  I'll have more time tomorrow

What is the cover of the album?  Do you have a picture/link?

this is the one they are registered for.  I actually tried to look on Etsy, but (although it was hard to tell and I couldn't click on every single one) may of the custom ones, they make the whole thing for you (like snapfish or something), whereas this is the kind with pockets for photos. 

Normally, I wouldn't get this for someone because I would think they would figure something out with their photographer, but I *think* their photog is a friend somehow so maybe they want this because they won't be getting a professional album.  At any rate, they did register for this, so I thought it could only be better if it was personalized!

Is it silk?  I haven't worked with silk... you could monogram the first page, maybe?
