I only understand one type of Hurricane and you drink it...
so can someone enlighten me if there is something i should be doing to prepare right now? besides heavy rains and winds what is philly getting (no trees here in the hood so no falling trees worries).
i live in spitting distance of a supermarkets and bars.
Re: I only understand one type of Hurricane and you drink it...
Prepare for the power to go out. The wind can knock it out. Candles, batteries, flashlights,....
My vacation in Sea Isle that I have been looking forward too all summer is suppose to start on Saturday:(
French toast!! aka milk butter eggs
But seriously, ditto pp. I think it's more for the power outages. Make sure cell phones are charged, car has gas (my personal paranoia), plenty of batteries and flashlights and all that fun stuff, just in case.
I just had a moment of paranoia that I left some windows in the house open. Thank God I closed them last night.
and now I would like a hurricane beverage.
i just ran around shutting everything!
so make sure stuff is charged. check check.
I love rainy days at the beach but sorry to hear you will have such a rough start to your vacay! Maybe bring lots of puzzles and games in case you lose power.

Have some cash on hand, not a lot but just some in case the power does go out and you want/need something. We're going to have a gallon of drinking water on hand as well as one day's worth of food that isn't perishable. After living through some phenomenal hurricanes I'm hoping this is nothing.
Oh and bring stuff in off the patio, large grills should be OK.
LOL I read one day as one month of perishable food and thought, holy cow what are we getting ourselves into!
Mr.D= me
You= S
And do you sit there and watch stupid youtube videos or stare at the stats over and over for your fantasy baseball team or the sunday softball league you play in?

I Nest.
I did this already. Our basement is finished but we occasionally get water in it. (Like once a yearish) You should have seen my huge pregnant belly hoisting and moving stuff. I was exhausted in about two minutes. Freakin Irene
methinks someone missed the point of this post?
