I have a shower/hurricane dilemma now too

I'm hearing from guests attending the shower that I'm throwing on Sunday, that if the weather is bad they aren't coming.  He!l, I don't blame them.  So if you had a feeling only half of the 30 people might come, would you reschedule?  Or would you forge ahead?  I feel like it could be a huge waste of money if we make food for 30 people and no one shows up.  Not to mention, it would be really sad for the bride, my BFF.

And then there's the wrorst-case scenario - like what if the weather IS so severe that day we don't have power or something crazy like that. I hate how weather=ohmygodfreakout but in this case, I feel like it could overall be a really crappy situation.

So I'm leaning towards rescheduling it but I wanted to get opinions.  The food hasn't been made yet (bride's mom is a caterer, so that makes it easy) and I will just have to negotiate with the venue to switch it.  They are just beginning to do events, so I doubt their calendar is completely full and I am only paying them a rental fee.

So if it were you - would you reschedule or forge ahead?

Anyone who won't come to the shower during a hurricane should be uninvited anyway. Honestly I would postpone. This weather is going to be hard for anyone to get around.

I would definetly postpone, as it may even be hard for you and those making the food to get around that day. A few years back, we were having a baby shower for my SIL and we had a huge snowstorm two days before.  When people starting calling us to ask if we were sitll having it, we kind of knew then and there we should reschedule.  So, we started making calls and postponed it a week.  The weather the next week was gorgeous and everything worked out nicely.

It looks like the weather reports are getting worse.  I would prob just make the decision to reschedule.  Better than going back and forth and then having to cancel anyway.

I would just reschedule if it won't be that big of a deal for you.  It will be one less headache for you and all the guests.

Ok, good.  I feel better knowing it's really the best thing to do.  I don't want to put people in the position of making the decision to come.  I'm hearing trees down, etc. The weather maps are freaking me out!

If the bride has other weekends she's available and it's not a big deal to reschedule, then I'd do that!

Well, it's a surprise.  Not my idea, but the other bridesmaids insisted.  So hopefully we can find out if she's free.
