DH said the same thing.  Its just dragging booty!

Maybe I dont feel so bad since you only see your hubby on the weekends - that would totally suck.  Hopefully your ventures and plans will work out for you guys!!

  • Not to rub it in but... Today is my Friday! :)
  • I think this week is dragging. I missed Monday's classes due to being out of town and so I've been playing make-up all week and trying to catch up with the reading in my political science class since I just got the book in the mail yesterday (was supposed to be here last week).

We're both home at night, but since Im stuck reading for classes and he's been swamped with work lately, we really only get dinner time together.

Tomorrow is Friday though, so YAY! We're going to look at trucks too, since DH wants to trade in the Jeep.

OMG this school stuff!!  That is one good thing about DH teaching at the college 2 nights a week - that gives me time to get all my school work done.  That way when the weekend is here I am not swamped reading and stressing out.

Have fun looking at trucks!!!  DH got a 2011 Nissan Frontier from my job a couple months ago and loves it.  We had a 2000.00 rebate going on at the time so we got it for an AWESOME price!

  • I am so ready for it to be tomorrow at 5:00. I'm kind of hoping we do get a decent amount of rain on Saturday. We need the rain and I would LOVE to just sleep in, stay in my pjs, and watch movies with H all day.

I like the Nissan Frontier! We've looked at a couple, unfortunately DH is wanting to try his best to do an even trade for the Jeep to a truck. I don't think that's gonna happen, but who knows.

It's paid off and is valued around 17-18K and in great shape. . however trading it in, I see getting less :(

Ugh! Good luck! When we were car shopping DH thought he might like to get a truck, but they are freaking expensive, even used. It's a little ridiculous. I hope you guys find something!

I think DH has a more realistic view after tonight. He sat in a ranger and was like 'Hmm it's kind of small'. . . well yes sweetheart, I've only been telling you this for a couple weeks now. At least he's sat in it and can vote it out. I think the ideal for him would be an F150 (with full backseats) or a Toyota Tundra. . .sadly, those suckers are like 35-40K!! (*Jaw Drop*)

I agree about the price though. The Ranger he was looking at tonight was 27K. We plan to go used, but he figured we'd go to the dealership just so he could sit in a new one and see what it was like. Regardless, if we were going new, I'd prefer him just get the bigger truck for that price.

I joked with him about paying that much money for two seats. . crazy.

DH has a call from a company in CO this coming week hopefully about a possible job change *crossing fingers really really tightly*. Our friend said we should just wait to trade in the jeep, just in case he gets the job and then trade it in once in CO because apparently 4x4's are cheaper there?

Good grief. . can you tell Im bored? Sorry for the novel of a response!

LOL. I don't mind your "novel."

We bought both our cars in CO (both 4x4s) & they aren't cheaper, but b/c more people have a need for 4WD cars there than in NC you can probably get a little better trade. The truck we traded was a POS & we expected very little, but ended up getting 3x as much as we thought. Maybe that's why your friend told you to wait.

Where in CO? If you're going somewhere like Denver or CO Springs I think you'll be fine, but we bought at a dealer in our small town in the Rockies & taxes there are astronomical. They were nice & let us buy our cars w/ a NC address so we could pay taxes here (since we knew we were coming back here). It was a significant difference in cost that way.

  • If DH lands this job *God I hope he does* . .it'll be Denver :)

How were the living costs out there, if you dont mind me asking? How was the weather?

  • We were about an hour and a half west of Denver & if you were going there I would tell you not to do it b/c you would surely regret it. COL was astronomical & there were a lot of other things we were unhappy with.

Denver is much different than where we were. COL is higher there than in Raleigh, but it isn't a huge gap. Look at citydata.com. They have a lot of information on there and I've found it to be really helpful when comparing two places.

Denver definitely gets snow, but this past winter was mild & they didn't get as much as usual. Also, snow is really different there. It's lighter b/c of the dry air and it's less prone to turn to ice. That makes it easier to drive on, but the heavily traveled areas do get packed down and slippery. Also, they react to snow very differently. Things don't shut down. It's a way of life & if everyone freaked out when it snowed they'd spend all winter at home. There is no salting of the roads, at least where DH & I were, b/c the chemicals would have washed off into the water table.

Fall is short lived, but very pretty. Spring and summer are really nice. No humidity! Denver does get pretty warm, but it doesn't feel as miserable b/c it's a dry heat.

HTH. Let me know if you have any other questions! Also, you might pop onto the CO local board. A lot of the ladies there live in Denver and would be able to answer questions better than I can since we only spent time visiting Denver & not living in it.

  • Thank you for the info!!

If DH gets the job offer, I'll def  be jumping over to that board and get some information from those ladies. I'm trying my best not to get ahead of myself and we're trying not to get too excited. It would just be a great opportunity for DH if he did actually land this job.

I think we'd stay around the Denver / Fort Collins area if we went though since we've got family in Fort Collins. I would LOVE to be out of humidity. It's gotten where it's hard for me to breathe outside and I love being outdoors, so that really sucks.

    Thanks again! :)

  • My best friend use to live in Westminster. She recently moved to NJ (her DH transferred jobs) and is constantly wishing she was back in Denver. I at least got to visit her while she was out there, got to go snowboarding at Loveland, and took DH to the Budweiser plant. I thought it was very nice out there, but I couldn't be that far away from my family (which is one of the reasons they moved to NJ, her family is in Ohio, his is in NJ).
