first anniversary with hubby away...
This is our one year anniversary and my DH is currently deployed. I don't know what to do or get him . He is creating something for me. He said he just wants new running shoes, but that's not very romantic. I want to do something special for him. I though about doing a photo book from Shutterfly but he has EVERY single one of our pictures. He made me put something together for him before he left... I still have about 3 weeks to do something so I can send it to him for it to get there in time. If you have any ideas please share!! Thanks!

When I went home for Christmas and H was deployed I brought my Flip video camera and took video of all of our family and friends saying hi to him and short messages. Then I turned it into a Flip movie and sent it to him on a jump drive. He loved it.
Other than that though, H and I are much more about practical presents than romantic. For our first Christmas I got a new laptop since i needed one, and he got a new iPod with tons of storage. For our first anniversary I got a Kindle and he got a tool storage chest. So if he wants sneakers, I would probably just send him sneakers, but do something nice with it as well.
My 2 year anniversary was a few weeks ago and H is deployed.
I knew he really wanted the next few books in the series he's reading but there isn't a ton of room on the ship, so I got him a Kindle and pre-loaded it with the books. He loved it.
We are all about practical gifts.

I sent sparkling cider and a bunch of shelf stable fancy cheese and cracker things. He claimed he loved it.
But, I also sent him steak jerkey and a bouquet of blow pops for steak and a bj day, and he claimed to love that, too.
hubby was deployed for our first year anniversary (december) and we didnt get each other anything (christmas was the next week). i did however, send him an anniversary card with some mushy writing. I think THIS year i will request we do it as if it were our first. I really want to take a 3 day cruise or something... but i think december is the wrong time.
I'd say get him the shoes (even though they arent romantic - if he needs them, he needs them). and maybe a cute picture frame for alll of those pictures he has..
