Quick ? - the naptime routine
Do you keep it the same as daycare or allow it to be different? I like to rock and sing for a few minutes before putting him in his crib. Daycare is no song, no dance. Is it okay that home is different?
Re: Quick ? - the naptime routine
We have a pretty simple nap routine at home like daycare, but I don't really pay any attention to what they do there as compared with what I do at home. And he does fine, so we don't worry about it.
At daycare they have a really regular schedule, so he always is busy in the morning, then they do lunch, then they sleep for no more than 2 hours, usually closer to 90 minutes.
At home, if he's tired he goes down whether or not he has eaten and we let him sleep for however long he wants. Sometimes we change his clothes into something comfy beforehand, but mostly he just goes straight into the crib and that's that.
I agree with Megan... they know they're in different places and develop routines for each. As long as he's napping at both places, I'd stay with what you're doing!
ditto pps. I've never even thought to ask the nap routine at daycare, we've just always done books and songs. He naps great here and there, though, so I don't think consistency has to reign.
