Everybody's working for the weekend...
HAPPY FRIDAY, BETCHES!
we made it. barely. but we made it.
serious lower back, upper butt pain. doing some research, i know it is running related but don't know how to fix it. oy. lots and lots of pain.
made a delicious soup last night.
going out to dinner tonight (pasta restaurant, always good!) and then long run tomorrow morning, 11 miles! WOOF! then hopefully we will still have SOME sun so i can sit outside on our beach and read a little.
sunday i will just do errands, Irene (which has been downgraded to a cat. 2 already) be damned!
Re: Everybody's working for the weekend...
Morning! Wishing this work day was already over. Working tomorrow morning too, so I just want to get today over with. We get free lunch today b/c we got over 70 pieces of work in yesterday (normally we get about 40). Holy busy!
Nothing interesting planned for tonight except maybe a bike ride if it's not too hot. Tomorrow is work in the morning and the annual Blongo bash in the afternoon. So far 87 people will be there, including all my BMs and their kids, very excited.
Enjoying my skinny latte from Starbucks right now, delicioso!
Morning! I'm home sick today - not exactly how I want to spend my day, but at least I'm not at work. :-P
Last Friday, I finally did my sinus scan that the allergy doctor sent me for. He called yesterday, and turns out I have a severe sinus infection in all of my sinuses and it wasn't allergies at all. So I picked up some antibiotics and nasal spray yesterday. This morning I feel like my brain might explode out my ears. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and I'll get some relief.
Not much on the agenda for this weekend... just trying to organize to start packing for our trip, and avoiding the rain. People around here are legit flipping out and I can't figure out why. We're so far inland here, I just don't get it.
hey girls!!!
Praise jesus, it's friday and I couldn't be happier!!!!!!!! Last night I did some errands after work. Supposed to be 1 quick trip, but turned into stopping at 3 stores. Did NOT wear the best shoes for all that walking! My feet were killing me when i got home!
Got some stuff for baby projects. Also got some stuff for J to paint his stupid duck and goose decoys.
I have a feeling I'll give in and help him with that this weekend. He has a ton of friends that go hunting with him, but they never want to help with the prep work that goes into it. Number 1 is actually his dad. They made plans for his dad to be at our place at 6 am last saturday to go check out the land and then to work on thedecoys and his dad never showed. Called in the afternoon saying he was sorry, but he was too hungover. Piece of you know what. Breaks my heart when I see FIL let J down like that. Happens a lot.
Other than that, i'm counting down till it's time to go!!!
Ahoy mateys. Philly is battening down the hatches and the Jersey Shore is evacuating. Again I will selfishly thank all that is holy that it is not this time last year one month before my shore wedding.
Last night I went home, brought candle holders in from the yard, cut some tree branches through my bedroom window so they are not beating on the glass with hurricane force, did two loads of laundry, put away a large K-cup order, made iced tea, packed lunch, reorganized the laundry room, ate dinner, visited with my aunt who stopped over, then went grocery shopping. When I got home MFD and I watched Famous Food and the news.
TGIF TGIF TGIF. Over this week and over Irene in advance.
I want to do nahhhh-sing all weekend. MFD is trying to make me go to a kid's bowling party tomorrow. I am trying new enchilada, corn bread, and light peach cobbler recipes this weekend. And hausfrauing, working on Relay stuff and catching up with correspondence.
Did you guys see Country Strong? Did I already ask about this last weekend? I watched it last Saturday and bawled my eyes out.
I am picking up DH from the train station tonight and then we're going grocery shopping. I told him there's no way I'm going anywhere near the store tomorrow. I'd rather do it at 10pm tonight with some crazies, than 10am tomorrow with a whole lot of crazies.
I'm debating whether we should board up our set of french doors - there's a large tree that I'm worried about coming down. But if it comes down, it's going to hit the house, not the french doors. Also, should we take our window AC units out? I don't live near the shore, but they're saying the winds will be bad (Shauni - I heard they're expecting it to pick up strength and hit cat 3 again this afternoon). Why don't they teach this kind of *** in school? Really, why can't DH be the one worrying about this?
I did see it, and I did cry. I did not see that coming. I love Gwenyth. And Tim.

I literally was strewn out on the couch with the volume turned way up, sobbing. Apparently I was sobbing loudly. MFD came thundering up from the basement yelling "What the hell is going on up here?"
Also, Shauni, please describe your delicious soup.
I have had major lower back issues since 8/17. I am trying to stretch more and I've been using a heating pad, which helps.
I'm sure this goes without saying for you and Shauni, but what about a Chiropractor? maybe something is "out of line" in there???
Sincerely hoping that Irene at least knocks the power out for a couple of days. Would be nice to have a day off Monday. And with everyone saying Irene's a-coming, I've got both 'Come on, Eileen' and 'Eli's Coming' running through my head. I love the classics.
My boss is out today and I don't really have much on my plate right now except for drafting a few emails. Could make for a long day.
My sister is coming up tonight to stay the weekend. Must hit the grocery store tomorrow morning and unsure if K is working or not. Maybe I can get her to babysit for an hour so I can get in & out quickly. I never even thought about hitting the liquor store as Shauni's blog helpfully suggests. Adding that to my to-do list. Memorial service tomorrow afternoon w/ the IL's
. One more week til I claim my moratorium on IL time.
SMD - please tell us about the toad incident...(damn cryptic fb updates)
Yeah. They're talking about an MTA shut down in the city - they might not resume service til Monday so I'm hoping it's too much trouble to come to work on Monday. I don't really have anything going on anyway.
Here's an overreaction for you. My coworker. He lives in Manhattan; his parents are freaking out in Puerto Rico and urged him to visit his cousin (or brother, wasn't listening to that part). So he's not coming to work to day and flying to New Orleans so he won't have to deal with the hurricane. I'm not expecting him back until at least Tuesday since I'm thinking flights on Monday will be difficult (with all the cancellations they're sure to have Sunday).
1) here is the soup: http://catesworldkitchen.com/2011/08/south-indian-rice-and-tofu-soup/ (sorry not clicky. also, i used chicken instead of tofu.)
2) i have always had upper back/neck problems since HS. serious pain caused from a car accident. tried chiro, reiki, massage, accupuncture, PT, MRI, etc. i finally broke down and called the pain clinic today.
as for the lower back pain, it is mostly in my butt and some in my lower back (worsened by sitting at my desk all day). i know exactly what caused it, and i found some great yoga moves to try tonight. if that doesnt work, along with heat and ice, and if it is still painful when i get back from vacay i will call a PT/Chiro guy in my complex to meet with me.

Yay for Friday! I just got to work, I had a belly check this morning. I gained 10 lbs since my last apointment July 20th,
I have noticed my belly has popped so I am hoping that is why I've gained that much. I go back in 2 weeks for my gloucose test.
Hope it's not too bad over your vacation!! If nothing else, I'm sure some adult beverages could take the pain away.....at least the mental part.
Morning ladies! I am SO glad it's FINALLY Friday. We are looking to have a decent weekend for weather, unlike all the places dealing with Irene. Just got word from FIL that he is planning on coming down to stay with us Saturday. Hoping to get paid for a few things this weekend... Craigslist sale for sheets and a set of glasses I etched.
Today is H's birthday. He is probably going to be home late, so I don't think I'll see him til just about bedtime. Sadface.
Sorry for back issues Shauni and Steph, I was going to suggest a chiropractor appointment too.
I am sure all of you near Irene are going to be MIA once things start happening, so I wish you all good luck and not much damage. I wouldn't know what to do with something like that, especially if made to exacuate.
Mary - I went to my chiro Saturday. It is now just stretching and taking care. And heat and a bit of ice.
Susie - MFD loves toads, he is always hunting baby toadies at the shore. Last night he went out to get the groceries and came back in with a f-ing toad. IN my house! I was shrieking like a loon. He said "Can I keep it?" I said "What are you, five? Also GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE!" I could just see this thing leaping and disappearing into the basement, never to be seen again.
Shiver.
Excuse for a party weekend in NOLA? I think so.
Especially since he said he's leaving based on recent weather reports, but thinks he'll be able to fly home Sunday. I just saw the original email. If he was actually listening to the reports he'd know the worst is going to hit Sunday.

This could be me and DH, if he is ever stupid enough to bring a toad into the house. I am always asking him if he is five, and his answer is always "No, I'm five and a half!"

So um... I have a story like this... Hubs found a salamander in our yard about 2-3 years ago. Brought it in and put it in a bowl on our counter. It wasn't very active, so we thought it would stay in there overnight. Got up in the morning and the bowl was EMPTY. To this day I don't know if it is still somewhere in the house or if our dog ate it. Beat that.
I have never met you and yet am giggling at how shrill your voice sounds in my head. Sounds like one of those moments you look at your husband and just wonder "WTF is WRONG with you???"
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
I forgot about Jessie's hamster! Lol, I hope she found it. And how is she? Anybody talking to her offline? I'm thinking of her.
Thank the sweet baby jesus that it's Friday, because I'm exhausted. Fell asleep earlyish (9:30 or so), but woke up sick in the middle of the night and laid there cursing H for sleeping through it. We've got almost nothing on our calendar this weekend, only a BBQ Sat late afternoon, so I'm stoked. Our plan is to go to Ikea to buy the baby's dresser on our way to the BBQ. I'd also love to get the crib put together this weekend.
Good luck with the back pain, ladies! I agree with Dats, the type of massage really matters. I go to a woman trained in Reflexology, Bowen therapy, and lots of different types of massage, and she is so so great. She also does this release of lymph nodes, which is weird but I feel so much better afterwards.
Thanks Mush.
