Meghan

I'm am SO pumped for you to go to Jamaica! We absolutely loved it, and I'm sure you guys will too.

Have you ever been? Where are you staying?

I am seething with jealousy.

Re: Meghan

  • Our friends are getting married at Sandals in Negril. We had totally discounted going ('cos, you know, we had plans next spring...) but now we have no reasons not to go.

Our good friends are going too but they are bringing their two children so they're staying at Beaches. They asked us to share a room with them and DH essentially told them that would pretty much be torture for us, so we're staying at Sandals. :)

We've never been to Jamaica. We debated a lot between an AI and a cruise for the honeymoon and picked the cruise to avoid hurricanes, so we're really excited to see the difference.

    Have any insights or tips?

  • We loved Sandals. Loved loved loved it. And I think you guys are making a good choice staying at Sandals vs. Beaches.

I have heard that Negril has the most beautiful beaches, but we stayed on the south side of Jamaica at Sandals Whitehouse.

Meagan went to Jamaica but for some reason I think they stayed in Montego Bay.

The only tips that I have are that if you get car sick, take some dramamine (sp?). there roads are not kept up well and are very narrow, but that doesnt stop them from driving 60 MPH.

If you can find some time, take some excursions. If you and Ty are in to it, you can go to Rick's Cafe and cliff jump. If not, Dunn's River Falls is the other big attraction I've heard about.

Eat lots of jerk chicken and drink dirty bananas. If you like Bloody Mary's make sure to try theirs (they make them with scotch bonnet sauce instead of tabasco).

I also recommend throwing some benadryl in your bag. I got bitten by sand fleas the last day we were there and I had 47 bites (Andy had none) and I was MISERABLE.

  • I do get car sick, so I'll definitely back something for that -- I had heard that about the trip to and from the airport.

What is a dirty banana? It sounds awesome.
