Work vent

Coworker has 8yo son here for the day. He's hanging out in the conference room but obviously she's still spending time checking on him, getting him things, etc. Our bosses okayed it but IMO she should have taken a vaca or sick day and stayed home with him. Grrr.

Re: Work vent

  • Work is no place for a kid!

I had a coworker once who always brought her 6 year old to work when there was a school holiday or early release. And her kid was obnoxious and not well behaved.

  • My manager does it all.the.time.  Now, her kids are older and well-behaved, but I still think it's quite wrong.  There's no way she'd let me do that.

  • Yeah...Would not fly totally at my work.

People have brought in their kid for like an hour and then WFH or something...

  • We used to have kids day at my old job.  To be honest, I hated it.  It was insane and I always was the idiot left alone in my department and stuck answering angry calls from customers as to why no one was answering their lines.  Kids plus work do not mix IMO.

  • I agree with this.  The lady that is my assistant will bring her 9 y.o. son with her on teacher work days.  The problem is I'm the teacher and don't get a thing done!  He's autistic and I love the kid but it just isn't right.
