To my Aggie sisters

I'm happy for you that it looks to be sealed for the Aggies to leave the Big 12, I am certainly not one of the bitter longhorn fans.  I understand that each program has to look into it's best interests, and wish you the best of luck.

Certainly you guys are confident the SEC will vote you in, given the recent demands of the University?  I hope you get the 9/12 vote by the schools, that would be pretty humbling if that 4th or 5th SEC team voted against your acceptance.  Where else would you look?  I hear the Big East is expanding, and perhaps the WAC.

Anyhow, I'll be saddened if the tradition of Turkey Day falls through, but given the circumstance I wouldn't be crying over it.   Our biggest (and favorite) rivalry is with OU anyhow, so it's not like it's the end of the world.   I really do wish your school the best of luck landing wherever you want, and hopefully the greener pastures will be just that.  You can't do any worse than in the Big 12, maybe you can actually make a conferece championship game in this decade.  Wink

Re: To my Aggie sisters

  • Yeah, thanks. Maybe you missed it when we won 9 conference championships last season? And were the highest ranked big 12 school in the all sport director's cup and the Capitol one cup?

  • Thanks.

I am really glad we are moving on.  Big 12 is a sinking ship and we are getting out while the getting is good.  It is a much better move for us in the long run.  I think all of our sports will be just fine in the SEC.  Given our current upswing in our football program,  I don't even think it will be that long before we are a contender in the SEC.  And yes I think we are just hearing legal talk to cover our ass and for the SEC to cover theirs.  I think its just a formality to be accepted into the SEC.

The Thanksgiving tradition will only fall through if the longhorns want it to, and honestly I think it will hurt them a lot more than us.

here here.  (from another Texas fan)

Honestly, it's only a matter of time before the rest of the Big 12 implodes anyway.  But I do think the rivalry will eventually fade away and it's a shame because it's one of the longest in NCAA history.

But I don't undestand why this took so dam long.  It was like beating a head horse.

  • It took so long because Texas was doing everything to stop it.  Trust me, we were ready to go over a month ago.

what bug said. Texas actually hired a PR firm to slow down A&M's departure from the Big 12-2-1 and into the SEC. Baylor helped. it could easily have been done a month ago but legalities got in the way. the SEC presidents were worried about tortious interference. they essentially wanted to wait until A&M was "divorced" from the Big 12-2-1 before they "married" the SEC.

heh, I was referring to the sport that actually mattered....football, but congrats on the basket weaving champsionships!     Wink

Take it easy, it was a light jab only meant in jest.   I fully realize the Aggies have had success in other sports, plus you have the academics to go along with it.  You guys will be a "good one" for any conference to add.

For someone who's not bitter, you sure seem to enjoy us getting held back from where we want to be.  Sorry that SEC vote was unanimous...thank God you have Baylor to give your entertainment.
