Firstly, it feels good to be clean. Best. Shower. EVER. I'm not pissed off with that.
I am SUPER upset with the doctor I dealt with today. He stood me up back in June, sent his residents to see me all this week and gave me, literally, 2 minutes of his time today and refused to answer any of my questions.
I almost walked out, then decided I wanted answers dammit. See, I could see (and feel) 5 reactions on my back. He told me I was only having two. I tried to explain to him that one of the patches had moved and that a reaction I was having outside the lines they drew on my back when they removed the allergen patches had originally been covered by a patch. He refused to believe me.
Like, seriously? Why would I make this up? I just want to know what I'm reacting too! And it's the exact same reaction as my confirmed ones.
So I went in the hallway and made a polite fuss until they sent a resident in who decided that I really did know what I was talking about and unofficially diagnosed me with two more allergies. Because the first doc is the head and wouldn't sign off on them (he wanted the test redone; which I do NOT have time for), they're just unofficial.
Anyway, I'm allergic to Nickel, Kathon CG (a preservative in cosmetics, body products and sunscreen), cobalt and, worst of all, fragrance.
Here's the thing - fragrance is in everything. It's got 8 major components that get mixed and matched together., I'm probably not allergic to all of them, but because companies only list "parfum" on ingredient lists, it doesn't do me much good to know which of those 8 components I am actually allergic to. But see... fragrance is in everything - shampoo, cola, toothpaste, vermouth, dental dressings, insecticides, antiseptics, after-shave lotion, fabric softeners, cough syrup... you name it, it's in it. I don't know what I'm going to do. ![]()
Re: Pissed off.
Ugh. I am SO sorry. How bad is the reaction to the fragrance? Is it bad enough that you have to avoid everything with it in it, or just cut back as much as possible?
Also, I am glad you are feeling clean and fresh now

You will live a very bland, and smell free existence. Or, you can start fragrance'ing with garlic! Bonus: no vampires.
Jokes aside, that sucks. However, it is good to know so you can avoid your worst triggers later. Time for a trip to Whole Foods?
Also, Dr. Douche deserves a punch in the vagina.

That's so frustrating. Your doctor sounds like a jerk. I'm glad you got some answers . I hope your allergies aren't so bad that you can't use any of the aforementioned products ever.
