East Coast Gals-- ask a Katrina Survivor

If anyone wants to know what you REALLY should do with a hurricane looming-- ask a seasoned expert!

Biggest tip- make sure you have a 1 month supply of BCP (or condoms) and your Xanax prescription- because you'll need it!

Re: East Coast Gals-- ask a Katrina Survivor

  • I am hoping that this Irene is less violent than Katrina and that they are just hyping it up because these things just don't ordinarily happen here in NH!  We shall see.  I am going out tomorrow to find a new knitting project to keep me busy when the power goes out.  We already ordinarily stock up on water so we are set with that. Hoping to find some batteries when we head out later tonight for a radio and flashlights.  DH seems to think we will only lose power for a couple of hours.  Here's to hoping he's right!

And well I'm already knocked up so no need to worry about BCP!  LOL!

  • Oh yeah I'm sure everything will be fine up there.  Probably just coastal areas that need to worry- and even that, if it's just a Cat 1, then damage should be limited.
  • It's sad, but I was more worried about how I was going to keep my iguana warm if we lost power for more than a few hours, than I was about myself. It also makes me nervous since right now she's in her hiding spot...and the last time she hid was when the tornado came out of no where and b!tch smacked us. Of course by the time it hits here it should be a tropical storm (which still sucks, but I'm thankful it wont be a hurricane).

It's sad, but after Katrina I think the country gets so paranoid about hurricanes, but they take more precautions and are better prepared.

I did make sure I have a nice supply of wine though ;)

  • Diane, that just makes you a good mama :)

And good call on the wine!  Hopefully it's gotten you through tihs unscathed!
