Want to hear about my day?

I have one day to find us housing for when I come back to CP in the fall. The coordinator I talked to told me to go to my old housing office to get two forms that I don't have but need. Old housing office doesn't keep said forms on file, told me to go to Central Housing. (Old housing office is on one side of base, Central is literally on the other end.) Central Housing has the forms but I brought the wrong POA with me. I brought the original not the notarized one. I know it is in one of two places; our storage unit or my locked safe in Missouri to which I have the keys.

I go to the storage unit and realize there are not lights. A quick trip to the store gets me a flashlight. I climb and dig through the unit to find our filing cabinet under the long piece of the sectional. After a lot of grunting I move the couch and find the correct file which doesn't contain any POA's. Cue breakdown and tears.

Then a Idea goes off and I decide to call our old housing office just to see if maybe they have it on file since I used to to move out in March. The nice lady on the phone informs me she does in fact have it because someone didn't do their job of purging files. Thank God for their laziness.

I take my notarized POA to the new housing office and reserve a house. 7 hours later, literally.

  • Oh man, that situation totally deserved a breakdown.  But yay for getting a house and having that done!  Sorry you had a rough day :(
  • Yikes! At least you can breathe a sigh of relief now!

  • Oh no! I'm glad that you were able to find a way to get a copy that you needed. I would have been in tears by the time I had to go buy a flashlight. For real. lol...

Ditto this. Obviously a drink is not an option, but at the least you deserve a pint of ice cream!!

  • Oh no! :(
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

This. I am so sorry you had to go through all that. I would have broke down the minute I thought it might be in another state.

  • I'm glad things worked out in the end, but that just sounds like a huge pain in the butt. Reward yourself however you see fit for all that trouble!
