Mes Aimis...

At the risk of going all Travel Board :), have any of you wonderful ladies been to Annecy, France?

It looks lovely and I really want to go.  Has anyone been in the winter-- Dec/Jan?  That's probably the soonest we'd be able to get there and I'm wondering how the off-season is... little less options v. total ghost town?

Thanks!

Re: Mes Aimis...

  • Yes, it's beautiful, GO! How many days were you planning there?

I've been there in November once and thought it was very pretty, but it was a bit dead. There might be more people in January with the ski season and the nearby ski resorts. The lake is beautiful and the old town is very nice. Summer is really a great time to go since you could swim in the lake, rent paddle boats, etc.

  • Ditti ktlk.  It's gorgeous and you should go.  I've been in the summer and in the fall, so I'm not speaking from personal experience, but given that it's so close to many ski resorts I don't think Dec/Jan would be super off season (although it gets really packed in the summer).  My guess is that there might not be that much closed at all.

  • Awesome!  Thanks for the feedback.

I'm thinking probably a long weekend-- 4days maybe.  My BFF usually comes over for a visit right after Xmas, she'll hang here for a bit and then, after my poor H has had too much "girl talk", she and I usually head out on our own.  No big agenda, just yummy food and regular touring.

I'm thinking we might have a winner!

  • It's a beautiful town! I was there in summer a few years ago and loved it, really pretty and full of life. As for yummy food please try Reblochon if you like cheese, it's delicious.
