QOTD

If you see a bug, do you squash it or put it back outside?

I put them back outside. Even this huge bee last week at the pool I picked up in a bucket very carefully and put him back out in the grass, even though I'm SUPER allergic to them.

Re: QOTD

  • I put them outside. I don't kill bugs.
  • If I know it is no threat to myself and I can catch it, I try to put it back outside. If I can not catch it, I try to kill it.

Lately, we have had a fly infestation in our house and I have no problem killing those suckers because I tried and failed to get them out. Ben has trapped them in the bathroom and calls it his kill room.

  • If it flies, and it's near a window or door, i'll try to get it there and set it free.

If it crawls, it's soon to be squashed.

If it crawls, and it's surrounded by lots of its friends, its going to get vacuumed and dumped outside.

  • Mostly squish unless I can get them out easily.

    This exactly.

Whitney, we've had a ton of flies coming in every time the door opens lately too!

  • Bugs don't live to see outside in my house.  They usually get buried at sea.

  • It depends on what it is. If it's a spider or an ant, it's pretty much guaranteed death. Other bugs are spared and put outside.

This. I will include silverfish in the instadeath category.  I don't mind taking millipeds or centipeds outside. Most of the time if it moves to fast to be caught on a piece of paper and stay on there til it gets outside it's going to die.  I don't want to risk that crawling on me!  Also Baxter tends to get to bugs on the ground before I do and they are already half dead, I'm just putting them out of their misery.

This is how I respond as well. Although, if it's big enough I ask Drew to get it, and if he's not home it gets trapped under an upside down coffee cup until he's around to deal with it. Once in the apartment he came to four coffee cups on the ground. He asked what I was doing, I let him know that those were the spiders who wouldn't negotiate.

  • Bugs in my home get squished faster than they know what's coming to them.  I don't do bugs in my house.  If I can't reach it, which is often, I scream for Drew to get it.
