Good snack before working out

Hi everyone!  I'm new to the boards; I was on the Knot while I was planning my wedding but kind of forgot about these other sites they have!  Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good snack before working out.  I'm starting the BCOR boot camp classes on Wednesday (there was an awesome groupon for them!) and they start at 7pm so I know I'm going to need a little something beforehand.  I'm also counting calories so something that isn't super high in calories would be great. Thanks for the help!

Re: Good snack before working out

  • Hi and welcome!  I would eat a balanced dinner an hour or so before your class.  Just a snack isn't going to cut it.

  • Thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately I won't have time after work to eat dinner before the class, and I'm afraid I'll be too full if I eat too much.  I was looking for something to give me enough energy to get through class and then have dinner afterward.  If I got out of work earlier I would totally do that though.

Do you have the flexability of eating at work at the end of the day? You could eat a second lunch around 4 pm.

  • My favorite pre-run snack is whole wheat toast with almond (or peanut) butter and some raw honey. I eat this up to an hour before a run of 4-5mi and feel great the whole time. We have dinner after running on Tuesdays and Thursdays (running is at 6pm), and this holds me over just fine.
