swim teacher

I am actually asking this for an acquaintance of mine.

She is looking for someone to teach her 5 year old boy with autism,to swim. She  has tried the Y, Houston Swim Club, etc, but they are of course group lessons and also higher than what she can pay.

She said she is hoping someone knows a "very responsible HS or college student who is an excellent swimmer ( maybe even on the swim team) who is VERY patient and has the desire to work with young kiddos." She said she "can't pay much, but can pay something and make up for the rest in chocolate chip cookies and an her undying gratitude."

If you know anyone, please let me know and I can pass along the info to her.  She is located around I10/Grand Parkway area.

TIA

Re: swim teacher

  • I don't know of anyone directly, but Matthew Bridges runs respite care services as well as summer camps for kids with autism.  His organization is called Bridging-Lives.  He used to contract with SBISD when I worked there.  He is a wonderful guy and might be able to steer her in the right direction of someone who could do this.

  • i have no idea how her availability is, but my daughter took lessons with laura last summer, and she was great.  she lives in greatwood; her number is: 281-732-0404.

i know we talked briefly about her past work with special needs kids, so she may be able to help.

  • If she doesn't find anyone closer, I know of an excellent swim teacher who also happens to be a special needs teacher at the local high school.  She only does lessons in the summer and it is in Beaumont though.
