Re: would you spend
Yes. :-) How cute!!!! As I've grown older, I appreciate a nice piece of artwork or framing a print professionally. And owls are awfully cute for a nursery.
Owls are popular, so you might be able to find something in a craft store with more accessories. Either way, adorable find!
I think they're cute but I would not spend the money. (1) You'll spend a fortune to frame them because they are done in a European standard size. (2) They're adorable for a nursery but in two years when you're ready to decorate your baby's "big kid" room you probably won't want them anymore.
IMHO, cheap artwork for nurseries is the way to go.
I feel like there should be a frame for that price.
but, I am a cheap b@sard when it comes to art - I always think I want high quality stuff, and then I can't take the price.
They are cute! I don't know if I'd spend the money though... I bought some artwork thru Heartsy (do you belong, if not, I can email you a referral) and got an awesome deal on them. I'm addicted to that site.
Mainely brings up a good point about the size too.
If they were framed I probably would - but without the frames that does seem like a lot of $$ for prints which are an odd size to get framed.
But I'm brokety broke so there's that, too, lol.
I would try making them myself, or finding something easier to frame. Which is why our nursery currently has um, nothing prepared to go on the walls.
I figured I'll make cheap curtains, maybe a bed skirt, and frame photographs, then when he's bigger and might have an opinion (favorite toy/character/etc.) then I might spend money. Unitl then, homemade is the name of the game.
$62 for three prints that I wouldn't have to somehow create myself seems like a fine deal. There are plenty of prints on Etsy that I'd pay $20 per for. HOWEVER, I got married almost six years ago and still have an unframed wedding photo (my favorite shot, even) that's still sitting in a closet because it needs a custom frame and (a.) they are really expensive and (b.) I'd have to go out of my way to procure one.
That being said, I'm planning to frame it using a credit I bought on Groupon (or the other one, whatever), so it won't be full price. So, if you truly love them, I say do it, then look for deals (whether through Groupon or whatever or with a 50% off custom framing at Michael's or whatever coupon) to get them framed. It's not like you're popping the kid out tomorrow...you could take some time and frame them one at a time (just do it at the same place so they all match).
I would totally buy those! I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE them!
And I could totally see putting them in a hallway or a bathroom if you decided to redecorate the room after your child turns 14 and decides s/he needs a grown-up room.
$62 (I thought it said $70) for 3 prints already framed is a fantastic deal. To me, that is inexpensive art for the nursery! I love my framer here in L/A-- I can give you her name but she works out of the Craft-mania store in the same strip mall as the Auburn theater/BBB. Sasha is amazing and she's got a degree in Curation so she knows what looks good and can make things work within your budget. That's if you even feel you need to change the frames.
