It skeeves me out...

Re: Would you wear

  • Depends on the shoes.

If I found a pair of nice designer shoes in great condition, hell yeah I'd wear them.

  • Most likely not. I get a little creeped out when I see people selling their old nasty shoes at garage sales.

  • It would be case by case... and only after some major cleaning.
  • I'm not judging, but how would you clean them?

  • Right now all I can think of is using Clorex wipes on the inside.
  • Lysol!

I think a lot of you are thinking thifted = junk/gross/dirty/nasty. Not always the case.

  • I'm not thinking dirty over worn shoes. I was referring to high end second hand. I don't even wear shoes of friends. Feet are dirty, even on clean people.

Would they be fine with a spray of lysol? Probably (although.... I don't know if lysol kills fungus...)... but I don't think I would do it.

  • No I wouldn't. I don't care what condition they're in. I really only share shoes with my sister.
  • If they were in new/like new condition and awesome, yes. Running shoes? No. I tried to go to Goodwill last week and I only lasted 2 minutes. I just couldn't do it.

My family was pretty poor and my mom bought a lot of my clothes from Goodwill when I was younger so I'm not above wearing 2nd hand. I just don't want to do the shopping myself.

So don't come over and put them on my couch! *gavel*

hahaha I was waiting for you to weigh in here.

I have way less of a problem with ppls feet on my couch than wearing their shoes. I wouldn't want someone rubbing their feet on MY feet, which is what wearing there shoes feels like to me. lol. But I clean my couch pretty regularly, so it doesn't bother me any more than if you put your feet on my floor. lol

  • I totally would if they're high end from a nice consignment place. A little feet junk isn't going to keep me from a good deal, you can clean them.

  • Only unused shoes, I have found some nice unworn Nine West shoes at a consignment shop before.
  • I have before.  I needed a pair of gold shoes and found some at Fifi's.  They looked fairly new.  I always look at the bottom of the shoes.  If they aren't scuffed up in the least, you can pretty much bet they are new.

  • Sure, depending on the shoe. Many thrifted shoes, especially in certain areas of town like the beach, have either never been worn or were only worn for a special occasion. If they had some visible wear, though, most likely not. On the other hand, if you somehow scored a slightly worn pair of Leboutins that just needed a shine and a new heel point, I'd be all over that and just take them to the cobbler.
  • Feet don't bother me so I might if it was a particularly special shoe and only slightly worn. It would really have to be a special shoe though for me to not just buy a new pair instead.

  • Like some of the others have posted, under certain circumstances I would consider it. If I'm in a thrift shop I will usually take a quick glance at the shoes, but I must not go to the right places because I rarely see something that I would say is acceptable.

I did buy DH a pair of dress shoes at a garage sale once and he wears them. The lady said she bought them for her son for some event at school and after that one time he wouldn't wear them anymore.
