Finished The Help last week and then went to see the movie...NO WORDS. Simply amazing...for both.
Next venture is Something Blue, though I'm having a hard time getting into it, partially because I don't think I really like Darcy all that much...
Re: Weekly Book Post
my read shelf:
This week I read CrossRoads and am in the middle of Deja Vu, both by Fern Michael. I think they are books 18 and 19 in the series but I could be off. Basically its about the Sisterhood, a vigilante group. I got hooked in on book one. They're all kinda similar- the group has to complete a mission each book. Some are revenge and some are paid jobs.
For class this week we are reading Farm, Goodnight Gorilla, and How Pictures Work. We also had to read 3 ABC alphabet books. My library had TONS of those.
I hear this was slow and that's why I have been putting it off.
I am reading Delirium. In the book, love is considered a disease that needs to be cured. I am only 32 pages in, but I like it so far.
I loved Cocktails for Three! A bit different style than the books she writes under Sophie Kinsella, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit
DH and I were stuck an extra day in New England this weekend from Irene, so I had a bit extra reading time.
I finished Wintergirls. It's a young adult book about an anorexic girl. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The plot is not that enthralling, but it gives an accurate look into the mind of an anorexic teenager, which is interesting.
I am reading The Color of Water now. It's pretty good, and a very fast read for a memoir.
I picked up The Rescue (Nicholas Sparks) at the airport. So far, it's a typical Sparks love story.
Val, I also dragged a bit at the beginning of Something Blue, but I ended up really liking it (and Darcy)
I'm about 2/3 of the way through Street Gang (the history of Sesame Street). I find it completely fascinating!! It's taking me a while b/c I don't have as much free time these days... but... it's a cool book. A dinner party during which a guy said "yeah, my three year old remembers every jingle on TV" spurred the entire thing!!
I LOVED Captain Kangaroo, too... but this book and another book about Mr. Rogers ("I'm So Proud of You"), make the Captain out to be a complete jerk!
Val - I loved the Help too and cannot wait to go see the movie. I'm hoping to go see it this weekend!
I'm halfway through Unbroken. It's a super long book so it's going to take me a while to finish, but it's really good. I normally don't read non-fiction books and I'm actually really surprised at how much I am enjoying reading it. It is definitely a fascinating and remarkable story.
I'm reading to much right now! I'm a little over halfway through Feed by Mira Grant. The story takes place 30 or so years in the future in a world that is infested by zombies. It's quite a good read actually.
I'm still chugging my way through A Song of Ice and Fire. I'm on the most current book, A Dance with Dragons. I love it but have really gotten burnt out on this series. This is the 5th book of the 1,000+ pages per book series. Maybe I'll finish it by the end of the year!
And finally, I've been reading the Jessica Darling series. I LOVE them! The first two books were just amazing. I'm on the 3rd book now. It's not as good and lost some of its realism but it's still making for a fun read.
