Was this reasonable? Re:dry cleaning/alterations

This past week I had a suit jacket, pair of pants, and two pencil skirts dry cleaned at the place around the corner. The total cost was $26. Was this reasonable? I felt like it was more than I've paid in the past but it's been a while since I had anything dry cleaned. I also had an inch taken off the sleeves on another suit jacket and that was $24. I definitely feel like that was expensive based on what my mom paid to have several hems taken up on dresses by the woman who did my wedding alterations. Thoughts?

Re: Was this reasonable? Re:dry cleaning/alterations

  • I pay about $11 each to have dresses dry cleaned and pressed at the chain cleaners by my house so the cleaning sounds reasonable. I'm not sure about the alterations.

  • The dry cleaning price sounds average. The alteration price seems on the higher side.

  • Was the suit jacket lined?  I would think it would be more complicated if they had to detach and reattach the lining or shorten it as well.  I know nothing about sewing/alterations though so don't listen to me.

  • While I want to say the alterations were a bit high, I can tell you that suits are a bit more time-consuming because of the lining and such. But I can't say for sure since we don't have a ton of dry cleaning.

I do need to get several things done though, and this just reminded me to call around. I have an aunt who does it though, so I may just pay her to do it.
