Mamas-birth certificate

I have yet to order a copy of Wyatt's birth certificate and I need to get on that.  Is there any reason why I would need more than one copy of it?

I'm not a mama but we had to get a copy of DH's birth certificate a few years back (his mom didn't have it for whatever reason) and it was a huge pain in the ass. We had to jump through major hoops. If it's easy to order two I'd say just do it. Then maybe ask someone you trust (your parents or ILs maybe) to hold on to one. It may be convenient when he's older and needs it for things. You can give him one copy and hold on to the other just in case. I know that is thinking WAY ahead but I just remember what a pain it was to get a copy for DH.

We only ordered one copy of DS birth certificate. We did scan it and have an electronic copy of it. For example, our insurance just wanted a copy of it faxed to them.

I ordered 3. They said it's cheapest now so I figured I'd pay $12 for ease in the future should I need them.

That's what we did too, nobody has ever asked us for an original, just copy.
