Re: Mums Bumps and BBTs

  • Hello! I have two napping little people, so will try to quickly post!

Ups: Both kids had a nasty virus last week (into this week). M is feelign better and sooooo happy. She's started throwing her head back and laughing, which is the cutest thing. W, after a really rough weekend, is perking up as well.

Downs: I want Matilda out of our room. But, although we're slowly working on cutting out night feeds (this week we're cutting out the midnight one), we're still a ways away from her sttn so she can go in with W. Also, not quite baby-related, but I had the Mirena fitted last week and looked at myself down below for the first time post-forceps-M-delivery adn it isnt' pretty. I'm actually going to the doctors because I don't htink it's right... (Sorry for TMI.)

    QOTD: This is tricky.

Getting BFing established has been a trial, both times, and I'm proud of that. I'm not sure what counts as an accomplishment, though. I BF W for 18 months, but most of that was really easy, so don't see that as an accomplishment...

Sooo, not sure if this is an 'accomplishment', but I'm also proud that W is a confident, friendly little boy. I love seeing him mix with other children, even older ones like his cousins. And today, I was proud that, after DH came back from a meeting in town (he's working at home today), W asked 'how was your work daddy? was it good?' I love that he's an empathetic little boy, and am proud of that.

I'm curious to see what others will say! :)

  • Hi!

Ups: Last night E slept 'till 5:20 am!!

Downs: Maddy had to go to the vet today with an allergic reaction,  we think its due to the cat scratch that she got yesterday.

QOTW: I'm proud that we have a thriving little girl who is super sweet :)

  • My body is messing with me, I think, and giving me false hope.  My temps are higher than they've ever been at this point in the 2ww, but still a BFN Sad (although I guess it is still a bit early).  Once AF comes, I'll be making an appointment to move onto the next stage of testing with my OBGYN.

I'm sorry sushi :-( How long have you been trying? I can't remember...

Well, am feeling pretty wretched this week all around. Nauseous and hungry constantly which makes for fun times. I'm so freaking tired still I can't actually get anything done, haven't seen my friends for ages and I know I'm not doing as good a job at work. I'm just holding out hope this passes soon.

QODT: don't really think I can answer that yet! I guess I'm proud of how I'm taking good care of myself, eating as well as I can (I can only stomach like 4 options) and prioritising my pregnancy over everything else right now.

I remember this stage of pregnancy. All that I could eat was green apples, steak with hot sauce and sun dried tomatoes. Everything made me feel icky. Someone told me that Coke would help with my nausea, so in one afternoon I drank I an entire 2 litre (because it did help in the beginning), but then it made me so dizzy that I could not get off the bed to go pee, DH had to carry me. I hope you get better soon. (Oh, and about only having 4 options, for the rest of my pregnancy I could only stomach beef, even just the smell of chicken made me throw up. The smell of freshly baked cookies was the absolute worst for me and I worked above a kitchen that baked them everyday when I was first pregnant. I hope that you have better luck than me.)

  • Ups: Schools go back next week! Schools go back next week! 4 mornings a week are just for me! Woohoo! And we have changed James over from cows milks products to goats milks products and it seems to be making a big difference on his skin.

Downs: His imagination is so big that sometimes I am not sure if he is lying on purpose or if that is what he really thinks.  I love how vivid his imagination is and don't want to squash any of it, but I also don't want to raise a liar.

QOTW: I am proud of how confident James is. I know that he is a secure child and is full of love, but I also love how is not afraid to speak his mind and tell us what he likes or dislikes, and what he would rather be doing. And I do feel like somewhere along the way DH and I must have done something right to have a child like that.

  • Ups: We're transitioning to a toddler bed. D is doing well going to sleep on his own, which is fantastic since just last week I was still rocking him and patting his back while laying in my bed.

We FINALLY had D's MMR appointment. I can't believe his GP forgot to refer us to the allergist at 12 months, which meant we almost missed the window for the vax. I flipped on the GP. He didn't even apologize for the mistake (after several reminders from me AND the head nurse at our practice). I'm searching for a new GP for D.

Downs: He occasionally falls out of bed, but I will be getting a bed rail this week. For now, we've got the floor padded with blankets and pillows so he doesn't hurt himself.

Daniel is working on his top bottom canine teeth. They must be more painful than his molars, since he couldn't even chew his toast this morning, and ended up screaming. He's thrown up a few times since they started coming in. I really hope they break through soon, but I can't even see any white spots yet. Toddler vomit is almost as disgusting to clean up as adult vomit.  (Sorry for the TMI)!

I'm bloated, slightly nauseous and my nipples hurt (sorry, another TMI). I'm not sure if it's AF related and I've been eating too much crap lately, or if I'm pg again. Waiting to test next week.

QOTD: My proudest mommy moment is that D is such a loving boy. If he sees anyone who's upset, he goes over and pats them on the head or shoulder and gives them kisses. Almost as if he's saying "It's okay, I'm here for you". It melts my heart when he tries to help someone feel better.

ETA: Another down for this week.

Thanks Pitt.  This is our 10th cycle.  I know in the grand scheme, it hasn't been that long, but it is starting to wear on me a bit.

Thanks Pitt.  This is our 10th cycle.  I know in the grand scheme, it hasn't been that long, but it is starting to wear on me a bit.

I absolutely understand - it took us 12 months. And then I got pregnant on the month we had sex once, not even at the right time of the month (we had a friend staying with us for a month). It was starting to stress me out enough that we had decided to take a couple months off when I got my BFP. It really can just take a bit longer for some people.

Crossing my fingers for you. (((hugs)))

  • Ups: Both BabyD and I are pretty much over our colds. Just some residual sniffles for him, few sniffles and unfortunate omg-air-and-oxygen-in-the-lungs type coughing fits for me.

Downs: Poor little guy has been so tired. He's flat out lost it at shortly before bed a few times. Once we have him crawl in he's fine. Settles down, says "wuv you" and "bye-bye", and goes to sleep with no problem. But goodness, the meltdown. Wow. (combine that with my super painful pregnancy back that spasms with the coughing - fabulous)

QOTD: Being a parent with DH. On the same page, working together, common goals, having each others back. Makes this whole process so much better. Parenting is hard work but being a team has made this a joy, made me a better mother, and definitely had a priceless positive impact on BabyD. I'll also say that it takes a lot of work to be a parenting team. But I think that putting in that hard work, based on how it benefits our family, is my biggest accomplishment as a parent.

  • Bean starts preschool on Friday.

Bean's birthday party is next Saturday and I need to make a cake.

Bug's birthday party is next month and I need to send out invites.

Things are going ok. I can't really think of any downs, other than just general, normal stuff!

QOTW: I don't know if there's one thing I can really point to. There are all these little moments where Bean figures something out or demonstrates knowledge or something I didn't realize she knew about, or whatever, and it just gets me so excited. She's so inquisitive and excited and happy all the time and I just love it.

  • Sushi: Honey, I know how hard those BFNs are.  I'm so sorry and hoping you get your BFP and a healthy baby really soon.

Pitt: Ugh...those first few weeks are the worst!  It gets easier. Sour candies, ginger ale and staying far far away from my trigger foods helped me a lot.  I couldn't eat any type of meat for the first 10 weeks.

Ups: Baby Sheks is a healthy little boy who looooves to kick mama in the bladder all.the.time. We have our last appointment with our Israeli OB this week then my OB in Atlanta wants to see us as soon as we get home.  I feel very well cared for!

Downs: Hoping I won't be too uncomfortable on the flight home.  This belly is just getting bigger and bigger.

QOTD: I feel I've really been taking care of myself pretty well during the pregnancy and making decsions that is best for baby.

  • I just realized I am next on the Bumps list.  I cannot believe how fast time is flying by!

Ups:  I'm full of energy and doing lots of nesting (real nesting, not just online!).

Downs:  Everytime I take a walk I get a really heavy feeling in the very front of my stomach and an ache like my ab muscles are too weak for carrying this baby.  It's getting annoying, but then I just sit and rest for a while and that usually helps.

  • QOTW: I agree with bugabean on this one. There's no one thing. I'm proud of the fact that DH and I have raised these two amazing kids so far and done, what I think, is a pretty kickass job. They're smart (in Bruce's case really, very smart), funny, sweet, good kids. All around there's very little I can point to and complain about with them - they both have their moments of course but we've been so lucky.

I suppose one of the things that I am proud of that I did is more that I've pushed myself to make friends in situations where I would normally be really shy and and find it quite hard, but my kids happiness was the push I needed to get past it. When we first were in London and Bruce was little I had to meet other mums and then we moved back here I had another period of being really lonely and frustrated until I said "this is crap. you are his mom, you HAVE to do this and set the example. you can't stay home forever, your poor kid will be miserable as a result and so will you."

  • Ups: F.C. is growing and changing soooo fast. This morning she finally really crawled on all fours without going backwards. Of course she went straight for the dog?s water bowl...

Downs: Still not SSTN, but it is getting better. Thanks to you ladies and your tips she is actually sleeping part of the night in her own bed, and DH is taking over dealing with her.

QOTD: I guess I?m pround of myself for sticking out the BFing in the beginning even though we got off to a rough start. It?s been worth it, and I enjoy having that time with her that?s just ours. It also made me feel really good when our pediatrician pointed out what a great bond we have.

  • No ups or downs to speak of.

Biggest parental accomplishment to date: DS says "bless you, Mama" when I sneeze.

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Ups: We survived baby jet lag, and really it only lasted 4 nights. Phew. ALSO ::patting self on back:: I went by myself to this child play place where moms sit around with their kids and some pre school teachers circulate and V had a blast. Signing in and figuring out some thigns was a challenge, but I am so glad I did it.

Downs: DH is gone until Monday.

QOTD: Obviously I am so happy that I have a healthy, happy little person, but that isn't erally an accomplishment so much as a result of some work by us and the right circumstances in the Universe. I am proud of breastfeeding and the bond that has given me with V. I know bf'ing isn't required to have a bond with your child, but I had some real fears about bonding before I had her because I'm not super into kids and never had that 'born to be a mother' feeling before.

  • Hello ladies!

Ups: Within the span of a day, DS has learned to roll from belly to back and back to belly.

Downs: He still doesn't like solids.

QOTW: hmm...it's hard to say, but I am very proud that DS is a happy chappy and such a relaxed kiddo.  DH would say he's the most proud that DS poops on the potty (we do part time EC, and DS hasn't had a poopy nappy in about 2 months).  LOL

  • Ups: We had our first scan on Tuesday and the baby looked great.  Measuring right on time and a good strong heartbeat of 170 bpm.  We also found our OB and made our first appointment with him for Oct.  (We had previously been seeing our RE, who is amazing.) I am so happy.

Downs: I think the nausea was starting today.  I had been avoiding it thus far but felt pretty yuck today.  We will see how tomorrow goes.
