Anyone's kid on a hunger strike?

Nat is refusing to eat anything but fruit and crackers.  I usually don't worry too much...but this new hunger strike has been going on for over a month.

Anyone else have this happen?

What did you do?

Did you call your pedi?

TIA

Re: Anyone's kid on a hunger strike?

  • mia, I totally understand.  Julian is on a mini hunger strike.  He will only eat salad, fruit, beans, and chinese food.  He was on a chicken strike too, but I think he is slowly giving in.

All I am doing is trying to encourage him to eat other things.  We give it to him and leave him alone.  If he eats it great, if not, then we let a few minutes pass before we give him something he will eat.  But just putting it in front of him and not pushing the issue too much, has helped a bit.

I dont know if this helped at all.  but I wish you lots of luck with the hunger strike.

  • Talk about self control:) lol....

  • Rj was on a chicken nugget/fish stick diet for a long while....and now he is slowly trying other things. Maybe its our kids way of saying that they want to be in control...of themselves. What has helped me with Rj lately is involving him in making the meal or giving him two choices of foods.

  • I swear Camille's been on a hunger strike this whole year. Some days all she wants is milk and juices. She loves breakfast but we can't get her to eat rice, meats, salads...

One moment she's actually trying rice and we think we made a breakthrough and then she starts poo-pooing it. She likes fruit but not all the time. Her list of foods she likes is a very short list.

We are going to talk to her ped at her 3-yr well check on the 3rd. I hope turning 3 will change her but I don't feel confident about that.
